This document discusses how facilities managers can increase recognition within their companies. It notes that facilities managers are often overworked and underappreciated due to a lack of recognition of their wide-ranging roles. The document provides advice on how facilities managers can get more involved in company strategic decisions and communicate their value through staff engagement activities and regular updates. It argues that facilities management should be recognized as a business-critical function and that facilities managers can make a difference by focusing on customer service and helping the whole business achieve its goals.

Main reasons we use to not achieve success
• Not enough time in the day
• I am not given enough budget to complete all the work needed
• I am not given enough resource to carry out the work
• Colleagues do not seem to understand what I do or how much I do for them
• I am not recognised by board, they don’t seem to see the benefits of what I do
• Daily I get too many jobs to complete
• To many people work at the company to manage their complaints
• They have now given me extra work e.g. IT, Telecoms, Health & Safety
• FM is not recognised as a profession
