3D models are used for a variety of mediums including video games, movies, architecture, illustration, engineering, and commercial advertising. The 3D modeling process produces a digital object capable of being fully animated, making it an essential process for character animation and special effects.

Quick visualization project for a studioINSITE client who wanted simply to understand what a sidewalk in front of his development might look like if it had landscape planters integrated into the streetscape. This is a simple way to produce an image with context for your clients! It creates a hybrid image with drawing, SketchUp and a photograph. See the blog post here: http://jimleggitt.typepad.com/jim-leggitt-drawing-shortcuts/2013/11/composite-sketch-from-sketchup-and-photography.html

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Andrea Accatino, and I am a Designer. I have been a Graphic Designer for over two years. During the course of studies (I graduated in Industrial Design and Graphic Design at the Politecnico di Torino in December 2015), I worked as Digital Art Director and graphic designer for Reopla LTD. In this period I was involved in the production of all the stuff that is required for communication through both print and web marketing campaigns. Since September 2016 I work as Graphic Designer with Eurofiere LTD, a company that deals with the design and construction of exhibition stands. I have therefore been able to observe and learn all the process of design and put into print in large format graphic. In particular, I have dealt with the creation of graphics, of all control parameters for commissioning the press and I followed directly printing process printers. Now that I have gained experience as a graphic designer, I would like to expand the skills in the activity that most interest me and pushed me to undertake this course of study. The security of a position with a firm of your success and stability would not only be in my best practical interest, but also serve my desire to concentrate more on my first love, the actual job of industrial design. As you can see from my portfolio, I worked on projects that required an advanced design concept of skills, industrial design and knowledge of the world of industrial production, as well as a thorough knowledge of all the software tools necessary for a fair presentation of the projects.

Digital Art Project Proposal For this project you will break up into groups of two or three. Drawing from your new knowledge of Digital Art from Chapters 1-2, you will propose a concept for a digital art piece and then present it as a group to the class. Approach this project as if you are artists and designers seeking a grant to create your piece. Consider these questions in your proposal: What is your goal with this piece? What are you criticizing, examining, parodying, etc.? How does your work of art fit into some of the themes of Postmodernism discussed earlier this semester? What form does your art piece take? Refer to your text for the different types of work you could create (interactive installation, animation/video, printed renderings, etc.) How does it incorporate existing or theoretical technology? What resources would you need to have in order to create this piece? Would you need a programmer? A video artist? A 3D modeler? Does it need to exist in a physical space or is it completely virtual? If it is virtual, how will people access it? What would the budget look like for this project? Give a rough estimate of what materials and labor would be required. What problems do you anticipate you might run into? How would you go about solving these issues? Since you are graphics and game majors, use your creative and technical skills to show us what the piece would look like. For your presentation, you can create a mock-up in Photoshop or a similar program of the final piece’s appearance and how people might interact with it. You can also reference similar artworks or artists in your presentation to show where you draw inspiration. If you do this be sure to include names, titles, and images. On this date, you will turn in your written proposal (2-3 pages single spaced, typed, 12 pt font, and standard margins) outlining your project. You will present your idea in your group using PowerPoint to present the imagery of your proposed project. .

Masakazu Takasu, Technical Evangelist, TeamLab http://theconference.se/ Masakazu will show how ingenious technology and art is made in Japan today. Our next event is MakerFaire trondheim 2014 and ALS Electronica 2014! http://prix2014.aec.at/prixwinner/13489/ PROTOTYPING EVERYTHING We grow up exploring ourselves and our surroundings. We learn how to interact with the community we live in. In our early days it’s ok to ask a lot of questions and to learn by doing and failing. Somewhere along the way we become less inclined to play and test to learn how things work, and it seems like we are supposed to know everything about what we do (listen to a politician interviewed on telly). A lot of us forget that craft of testing our way forward. But, there is a global maker movement that is all about trying things out and building prototypes to understand if an idea works and if there’s a market for it. In this session you will learn about how you can prototype everything from business models to technology. http://togetter.com/li/708899
