Our goal is to give you a good balance of sales/event planning
along with banquetmanagement. We believe that the above
schedule will offer you exposure to both sides of the Event
Business. Having both perspectives will assist you in
formulating a full understanding of what it takes to make an
event happenfrom the beginning stages to the end of the
event. We have split up the internship into two separate
profiles but in the end we believe it will help you get the big
picture of how to pull of an event at Ceresville Mansion!
2. Sales Projects/Activities:
Throughoutthe summer,youwill shadow the eventplannersonthe followingappointments:
1) SalesToursof the Mansion (5 minimum)
2) Foodand Beverage PlanningMeetings(5minimum)
3) Off site appointments witheachsalesperson(3minimm)
4) Julytasting(1)
5) AttendWednesday salesmeeting(weekly)
6) Social Media– Blogging/Postson relevanttopicsineventplanning
Responsibilites/Duties:
A. Post Tours: You will be requiredtowrite areview onat least3 salestours (one fromeach
planner) usingthe followingcriteria:
1) Didthe salespersonspendtime gettingtoknow the clientandunderstandingtheirneeds.Did
the salespersonlisten tothe clientordomost of the talking?Give anexample.
2) Didthe salespersonapplythe informationthatthe clientgave totheirtour.Give an example.
3) Didthe salespersonsitdownafterthe tourand go throughthe menusand pricinginformation
clearly andconcisely?Didtheyprovide clearanswerstothe customersconcernsandissues.Give
an example.
4) Didthe salespersonofferanyopportunitiestoreachout to the clientagain/giveareasonto
folow-up.Give anexample.
5) If you were the eventplanner,whatwouldyouhave done differently?Please offerafresh
perspective fromayoungadultpointof view thatwouldhelpuswithfuture tours.
B. Post offsite salesvisits:You will alsobe requiredtoprepare a‘mockproductionpacket’based
on three off site salesappointmentsasif the clientwere tobookwithus. Includingamenu,
timeline,invoice andfloorplansforthe event.
C. Post Tasting: Write a reviewfrom yourvantage pointdiscussing/reviewingthe executionof the
eventof citingexamplesyouobservedof twopositiveaspectsof the tastingandtwo‘needs
improvement’aspectsof the tasting.
3. Banquet Projects/Activities:
ShadowEventManager onthe followingactivities:
1) Productionmeeting –to helpMollywithweeklyprepworkpriortothe productionmeeting.
Attend productionmeeting.
2) Rehearsalsandcorrespondingweddings
3) Eventsetup – helpwithsettingtables,stations,andothereventdisplays
4) Observe andbeingable totalkwithmanageraboutthe followingareasof eventmanagement:
A) ProblemSolving/CrisisSolving
B) CustomerService Skills
C) Staff/Frontof House Management
D) Time Management

1) Write a reviewonthe following:
A) A WeddingRehearsal andcorrespondingwedding –cite areas where Mollyexecuted
problemsolvingskills,customerservice,time managementandmanagingthe staff
B) An eventsetup.Use the followingfactorstorate the effectiveness.
C) ReviewaBEO/Productionpackage andtranslate thatto an eventsetup.EX # of Tables.
D) Run Mock Rehearsal
E) Breakdownthe difference betweensocialandcorporate events.
