Introduction
The following report has been drafted to provide Shell Expro with a clear and concise
record of Scale Squeeze Operations during Qserv’s campaign onboard the Tern Alpha
Platform.
Scale squeeze treatments were carried out successfully without any accidents or
incidents, and no equipment failures / downtime on Wells. TA
WELLS TA 02,03,04,05,06,11,12,13,15,16,17s1&s2,21,24,30,Kestrel U-P1&P2
Qserv, have very much welcomed and enjoyed the opportunity to undertake such
services-operations for your organization and to that end, we would welcome any
opportunities to undertake further operations.

Objective
The object of the campaign was to carry out Scale Squeeze treatments on WELLS TA
02,03,04,05,06,11,12,13,15,16,17s1&s2,21,24,30,Kestrel U-P1&P2 as per Baker
Petrolite programs, whilst at the same time providing a Chemist Service during the
pumping operations and well flow back periods.

2 x supervisors arrived on the Tern, create permits for rigging up and down equipment
and for all the treatment wells and get scaffolding erected on the wells TA 02 & TA 26
Water Injection for rigging up on to. Requested scaffold around hatch on west skid
deck.
5th
April
Continue to make up permits and attend permit meeting, wait on equipment to come of
the boat when it arrives at the Tern and get it spotted. Remaining crew
members bumped until 9th
April due to adverse weather conditions.
6th
April
Continue to make up permits and attend permit meeting.
7th
April
Liaise with STL and deck crew regarding equipment spotting on west skid deck.
Attend permit meeting.
8th
April
Boat arrived with equipment, stand-by to spot equipment and check inventory of
equipment.
9th
April
4 x pumping operators arrived on board; Start spotting all equipment on the west skid
deck. Check inventory of equipment.
10th
April
Started rigging up pump and high pressure lines for TA 02 squeeze waiting on prod
techs to do WIT tests on the well before we can rig up onto it. Scaffold erected around
hatch on west skid deck. Request chemical tanks for TA05,TA06,TA11 to arrive TERN
14/04/08
11th
April
Rig on to TA02, pressure tested all lines and commenced TA02 S/SQ as per program
@ 12:57 THP 20.5 bar. Change out Chemical tanks from TA02 to TA03, TA04 and
transfer to holding tank. Backload TA02 chemical tanks and Qserv half height HH20-
012 for storage. Request scaffold around TA03 to allow rigging on to Kill Wing.
12 th
April
Completed S/SQ on TA 02 @ 05:30, THP 0.0 bar.
Rigged off kill wing and isolate TA26 Water injection,
Started flow back on TA 02 @ 12:45 hrs. Continue to sample every 1 hr for 24hrs.
Start sampling @ 15:30. Scaffold erected around TA03. Wait on next well TA03.
Request scaffold for TA04 to allow rigging on to Kill Wing.
13th
April
TA03 closed in @ 03:00 hrs THP @2.6 bar.
Rigged on to TA03 and pressure tested pumping line. Commenced TA03 S/SQ @
08:50. TA03 well in vacuum @ 09:03. Completed TA03 S/SQ as per program @ 11:15
and began 6hr soak period. Completed TA02 flow back samples @ 15:30. Request
scaffold for TA05 to allow rigging on to Kill Wing. Started Flow back samples from
TA03 @ 21:00. Request chemical tanks for TA12,TA13,TA15 to arrive TERN 17/04/08
14th
April
TA04 shut in @ 03:00 THP 11BAR, rigged on to kill wing and pressure tested line.
Suspend permit for DFT. Edward Pattinson changed out with Malcolm Maitland.
Commenced TA04 S/SQ as per program @ 12:55 and completed @ 17:00 and started
6 hr soak period. Completed TA03 flow back samples @ 21:00. Scaffold in place for
TA05. Requested scaffold for TA06. Waiting for chemical tanks for TA05, TA06, and
TA11. TA04 began flowback @ 23:30.
15th
April
Started flowback samples @ 02:00 forTA04.Chemicals on board for TA05,TA06,TA11
Transfer to 200bbl holding tank. Requested isolations forTA05 & closed in @10:00
THP 12bar. Rigged on to TA05 kill wing and completed S/SQ as per program.
Manifested TA03 flow back samples to Shell lab. Begin TA05 6hr soak period.
Scaffold in place for TA06. Scaffold requested for TA11.
16th April
Finished flow back samples @ 0200 for TA04. Manifested TA04 flow back samples
back to Shell lab TA05 opened to test separator for 24hr flow back @ 05:00 THP 46
BAR. Tubing volume returned from TA05 @ 07:00 started 24hr flow back sampling.
Request chemical tanks for TA16, TA17 and TA21 to arrive TERN Sunday 20/04/08.
TA06 shut in @ 15:00 THP 8.6 BAR, Rigged on to TA06 kill wing and commenced
S/SQ as per program.
17th April
Finished s/sq on TA06 @ 02:22.Request isolations, rigged off TA06 Kill Wing.TA05
flow back sampling completed @ 07:00 and manifested back to shell lab. TA06 soak
period extended due to test separator being utilized by production. Platform shut down
all day due to integrity problems with main oil export line. Chemicals on board for
TA12, TA13, & TA15. TA12 chemicals tanks x 5 transferred to 200bbl holding tank.
Scaffold requested for TA12 and erected. Rigged on to TA11 Kill Wing and pressure
tested. Wait on production to get plant up and running.
18th
April
Standby to flow TA06 through test separator, delay due to platform starting up process
plant. Remaining chemical tanks for TA12 spotted at skid deck. TA05 flow back
samples have been manifested to Shell lab
19thApril
Still on stand-by, waiting on platform to start process.

20thApril
Chemical tanks for TA16, TA17 & TA21 on board. TA06 opened up to test @ 14:00
CITHP 36.7 bar- FWHP 5.4 bar.TA06 tripped at 1800hrs only one cube flowed back.
Opened up to test again @ 20:30 CITHP 52 bar—FWTHP 9.6 bar. Bottoms up
returned @ 23:59 Start 24hr flow back sampling.
21st April
Continue to sample TA06. Started S/SQ on TA11 @ 10:30 THP 50 bar. Ed Pattinson,
Gordon Campbell & Alison Macleod came on @ 10:25 & Kevin Ritchie & Dean
Davidson went off.Transfered remaining tanks for TA12 into 200bbl tank. Spotted
tanks for TA13 & TA15 Completed TA06 sampling @ 23:59.
Finished S/SQ on TA11 @ 19:07.Requested scaffolding around TA13
22nd
April
Rigged onto TA12 and Pressure tested surface lines. Started flow back on TA11
At 05:30 THP 76 Bar. Scaffolding erected around TA13.Waiting to get bottoms up so
we can start F/B sampling TA11. 18:00 Tubing volume flown back but test separator
Has tripped. Start flow back samples on TA11 at 21:30
23rd
April
Start scale squeeze onTA12 at 02:35 Finished S/SQ on TA12 17:05 soak for 6 hours
transfered chemicals for TA15 & TA16 into 200 bbl tank @ 17:00 Continue to sample
TA11 until 21:30 .S,Lonie & S,Underwood went off and M,Allen & G, Richardson came
on. Rigged off TA 12 and commenced flow back at 23:00hrs.Finished F/B sampling on
TA11 @ 21:30
24th April
Started 24 hr sampling on TA 12 at 02:00hrs after initial tubing volume had been flown
back .Continue sampling TA12.Rigged onto TA13 @1500 wait on permit for pressure
testing. Got permit, pressure test lines for TA13 suspend permits for DFT @1717.
Started squeeze on TA13 at 20:20.
25th April
Completed scale squeeze on TA13 at 00:30.Competed sampling from TA12 at 02:00.
TA13 currently on 6hr soak period No-one on nights to issue permits in the early hours
of the morning for rigging off TA13.08:00 rig off TA13 start flowing back tubing volume.
Got tanks TA17 in place. Start flow back sampling for TA13 @ 11:00. Continued
sampling TA13 through out the night and early Morning. Could not get isolation on
TA15.
26th
April
Competed sampling from TA13 @ 11:00 Squeeze programme slowed down so
platform can get their water & production sorted as squeeze chemicals are causing
problems. Rigged onto TA15 @16:30. Pressure tested and performed scale squeeze
On TA15
27th
April
TA15 pumping complete at 04:45 shut in well for 6hr soak. Rigged off TA15 @ 08:15
Job complete permit @ 09:25.Tanks for TA17 in place. Scaffolding erected around
TA17. Job on hold due to test separator pump failure.
28th
April
M, Maitland & J, Munro crew changed out today and K, Ritchie & D, Davidson
onboard.We will start sampling from the well skid as the test separator pump is out of
action. On standby for sampling TA15 & continuing with squeeze programme.
Redressed choke and carried out integrity test. Chemical tanks for TA24 on board.
29th
April
Started Flow Back sampling TA15 @ 00:00 from sample skid. Requested scaffold for
TA17 + TA21. Changed out TA16 WAW85202 for TA17 WAW85202 due to treatment
well sequence change.
30th
April
Completed TA15 flow back sampling @ 00:00, awaiting permit and isolation to
commence TA17 @ 04:00 can’t sustain isolation UHMV passing. Rigged on to TA17
kill wing @16:30 & pressure tested surface lines, CITHP 77bar. Start scale squeeze
@ 21:15
01st
May
During Overflush on TA17 upper hydraulic Master valve shut in at aprox 02:40
Causing PRV to discharge. Valve was reset and continued overflush. TA17 S/SQ
complete @ 06:24 and begin 6hr soak period, rigged off kill wing @ 09:45. TA17 flow
back started @ 13:50. CITHP 60.8 bar. TA17 shut in again due to plant BS&W levels.
Martin Allan & Gordon Campbell departed location; Steve Lonie & Simon Underwood
arrive on board. Transferred TA21 chemicals into front of 200bbl tank, changed out
TA17 WAW with TA21 WAW & changed out TA21 empty tanks for TA30 full tanks. All
empty chemical tanks manifested for backload. Chemical tanks for TA30 on board
02nd
May
Stand by and await conformation to flow back TA17. After conference call with Baker
Petrolite & production supervisor it has been decided to proceed with a revised
program for TA21. The WAW85202 has been omitted and the main treatment
SCW82361 (2273 ltrs-14.3bbls) extended as per revised program (si TA21s1.04.r2).
03rd
May
Stand by and await conformation to flow back TA17 or Commence TA21 S/SQ.
04th
May
TA21 shut in @ 14:00 CITHP 55BAR, Rigged on to TA21 kill wing & pressure tested.
Transferred Chemical from TA16 for TA21 main treatment volume adjustment as per
program (si TA21s1.04.r2). Started scale squeeze on TA21 @ 20:50
05th
May
Completed S/SQ on TA21 as per program, soak for 6 hrs. Rigged off kill wing &
started flow back @16:00 CITHP 1.7 BAR. Requested scaffold for TA30 access to kill
wing & erected. Prepared equipment for TA30. Transferred chemicals for TA30 into
front of 200BBL tank. Started flow back sampling on TA21 @ 20:00
06th
May
Continue sampling TA21 until 10:00, only gas being returned. Manifested TA30 empty
chemical tanks for backload. Water injection shut down due to leakage @ 20:00
Stand by and await repair.
07th
May
After discussion with all relevant parties it has been decided to proceed with original
S/SQ programs. Stand by and await isolations on TA30 techs busy getting plant back
up and running. Chemical tanks WAW85202 & SCW82361 for Kestrel U-P1 & U-P2
now onboard
08th
May
Edward Pattinson & Graham Richardson crew changed out today with Malcolm
Maitland & James Munro arriving onboard. Standby for TA30 S/SQ.
09th
May
TA 30 shut in @01:00hrs with CITHP @ 24.9 bar. Stand by for isolations on
TA30.Rigged on to kill wing and pressure tested to 3500psi. Water injection down from
midday to 16:00. Commenced TA30 S/SQ @ 16:20 as per program. Water injection
shut down again @ 18:00. Dean Davidson crew changed out for Stuart Oliphant.
10th
May
Got water injection going again, Started pumping again @ 02:26 on TA30. Completed
TA30 S/SQ as per program @ 13:35. Changed out TA30 chemical tanks with TA24
chemical tanks & started transferring into 200bbl holding tank. Request Kestrel U-P1 &
U-P2 chemical MEG tanks to arrive Tern Alpha 16/05/08. Rigged off TA30 @ 21:00,
On standby to sample TA17 &TA30.
11th
May
TA30 opened up @ 13:20 CITHP -1.7 BAR but unable to gain flow. Production
exhausting all options. Requesting scaffold for TA24 & TA16 as this was utilized on
another well. Tried sampling @ 21:30 but too much gas, Tried again TA30 still to
gaseous. Platform closed in TA30 to try & build up pressure.
12th
May
Standby to sample TA30. TA17 opened up @ 08:57, CITHP 79 BAR, FWHP 10.5
BAR, TA17 hydrocarbon returns @ 13:10, only hydrocarbons being returned @ 18:00.
Keep trying to get samples every hour up until 21:00 when N.Barr informed us to stop
sampling on TA17,& only try every so often until shift change.
13th
May
TA16 shut in @ 11:15 CITHP 65BAR, rigged on to TA16 and commenced Scale
Squeeze @ 14:50. Transferred remaining TA24 SCW82361 tanks in to 200BBL tank.
Manifested all remaining empty chemical tanks for backload. Stopped attempting to
obtain flow back samples from TA17 @ 09:00.
14th
May
Finished S/SQ on TA16 @ 04:40, Soak for 6 hours. Rigged off and job completed
TA16 permit. Assisted production techs with TA26 WIT. Changed out TA24 empty
SCW82361 tanks with Kestrel U-P1 SCW82361 tanks. TA16 begin flow back @ 13:50
and started flow back sampling @ 14:00 CITHP-20BAR, FWHP- 7.9BAR. TA16
tripped @ 14:40, TA16 begin flow back again @ 16:40. Scaffold for access toTA24 kill
wing now in position.
15th
May
Continued to sample TA16.Plant tripped @ 04:25.Now leaving TA16 shut in until after
12 hr shut down. Crew change Ed Pattinson & Gordon Campbell on Kev Ritchie,
Steve Lonie off. Rig onto TA24 & pressure test.
16th May
Commenced with S/SQ program on TA24 @ 01:45 ,CITHP 35 Bar. Commenced
bunkering diesel into 200bbl displacement tank. Attended permit meeting for Kestrel
Permit. Water Injection shut down @ 17:00hrs.200bbl tank now full of diesel @22:05.
17th
May
Water injection now up & running commenced with S/SQ on TA24 @ 00:40.
Commenced flow back on TA30 @ 03:15 THP 5.3Bar and started sampling @
07:00.TA24 completed @ 08:28.Now in 6hr soak. Started sampling TA24 @ 16:30.
Rigged onto Kestrel tie in point and pressure tested @16:40
18th
May
Completed sampling TA30 & TA24. Commenced Kestrel diesel flow line displacement
19th
May
Filled 200bbl tank with diesel & continued with Kestrel flow line displacement.
Started treatment on Kestrel @ 09:45.Stop pumping as CCR have not configarated the
valves properly. Need to pump an extra 509bbls to get main treatment down well. Start
pumping again @ 19:50 after TOFS in the CCR. Simon Underwood crew changed out
today for Simon Underwood.
20th May
Started S/SQ Kestrel P2 as per program instructions. Finished squeeze operations on
Kestrel .Start to rig down Job complete permit for TA26.
21st
May
Job complete permits for hot work & Kestrel. Continue rig down M. Maitland, J, Munro
G, Campbell & S, Oliphant getting down manned .Continue rig down. Start flowing
Kestrel @ 18:00 and commenced sampling @23:00
22 nd
May
Continue sampling and prepare to down man

Completed sampling, Ed Pattinson and Graham Richardson down man job complete.

Check inventory of equipment. 10th April Started rigging up pump and high pressure lines for TA 02 squeeze waiting on prod techs to do WIT tests on the well before we can rig up onto it. Scaffold erected around hatch on west skid deck. Request chemical tanks for TA05,TA06,TA11 to arrive TERN 14/04/08 11th April Rig on to TA02, pressure tested all lines and commenced TA02 S/SQ as per program @ 12:57 THP 20.5 bar. Change out Chemical tanks from TA02 to TA03, TA04 and transfer to holding tank. Backload TA02 chemical tanks and Qserv half height HH20- 012 for storage. Got permit, pressure test lines for TA13 suspend permits for DFT @1717. Started squeeze on TA13 at 20:20. 25th April Completed scale squeeze on TA13 at 00:30.Competed sampling from TA12 at 02:00. TA13 currently on 6hr soak period No-one on nights to issue permits in the early hours of the morning for rigging off TA13.08:00 rig off TA13 start flowing back tubing volume. Got tanks TA17 in place. Start flow back sampling for TA13 @ 11:00. Continued sampling TA13 through out the night and early Morning. Could not get isolation on TA15. 26th April Competed sampling from TA13 @ 11:00 Squeeze programme slowed down so platform can get their water & production sorted as squeeze chemicals are causing problems. Rigged onto TA15 @16:30. Pressure tested and performed scale squeeze On TA15 27th April TA15 pumping complete at 04:45 shut in well for 6hr soak. Rigged off TA15 @ 08:15 Job complete permit @ 09:25.Tanks for TA17 in place. Scaffolding erected around TA17. Job on hold due to test separator pump failure. 28th April M, Maitland & J, Munro crew changed out today and K, Ritchie & D, Davidson onboard.We will start sampling from the well skid as the test separator pump is out of action. Changed out TA16 WAW85202 for TA17 WAW85202 due to treatment well sequence change. 30th April Completed TA15 flow back sampling @ 00:00, awaiting permit and isolation to commence TA17 @ 04:00 can’t sustain isolation UHMV passing. Rigged on to TA17 kill wing @16:30 & pressure tested surface lines, CITHP 77bar. Start scale squeeze @ 21:15 01st May During Overflush on TA17 upper hydraulic Master valve shut in at aprox 02:40 Causing PRV to discharge. Valve was reset and continued overflush. TA17 S/SQ complete @ 06:24 and begin 6hr soak period, rigged off kill wing @ 09:45. TA17 flow back started @ 13:50. CITHP 60.8 bar. TA17 shut in again due to plant BS&W levels. Transferred TA21 chemicals into front of 200bbl tank, changed out TA17 WAW with TA21 WAW & changed out TA21 empty tanks for TA30 full tanks. All empty chemical tanks manifested for backload. After conference call with Baker Petrolite & production supervisor it has been decided to proceed with a revised program for TA21. The WAW85202 has been omitted and the main treatment SCW82361 (2273 ltrs-14.3bbls) extended as per revised program (si TA21s1.04.r2). 03rd May Stand by and await conformation to flow back TA17 or Commence TA21 S/SQ. 04th May TA21 shut in @ 14:00 CITHP 55BAR, Rigged on to TA21 kill wing & pressure tested. Transferred Chemical from TA16 for TA21 main treatment volume adjustment as per program (si TA21s1.04.r2). Started scale squeeze on TA21 @ 20:50 05th May Completed S/SQ on TA21 as per program, soak for 6 hrs. Rigged off kill wing & started flow back @16:00 CITHP 1.7 BAR. Requested scaffold for TA30 access to kill wing & erected. Prepared equipment for TA30. Transferred chemicals for TA30 into front of 200BBL tank. Started flow back sampling on TA21 @ 20:00

Water injection shut down due to leakage @ 20:00 Stand by and await repair. 07th May After discussion with all relevant parties it has been decided to proceed with original S/SQ programs. Stand by and await isolations on TA30 techs busy getting plant back up and running. Chemical tanks WAW85202 & SCW82361 for Kestrel U-P1 & U-P2 now onboard 08th May Edward Pattinson & Graham Richardson crew changed out today with Malcolm Maitland & James Munro arriving onboard. Standby for TA30 S/SQ. 09th May TA 30 shut in @01:00hrs with CITHP @ 24.9 bar. Stand by for isolations on TA30.Rigged on to kill wing and pressure tested to 3500psi. Water injection down from midday to 16:00. Commenced TA30 S/SQ @ 16:20 as per program. Water injection shut down again @ 18:00. Dean Davidson crew changed out for Stuart Oliphant. 10th May Got water injection going again, Started pumping again @ 02:26 on TA30. Completed TA30 S/SQ as per program @ 13:35. Changed out TA30 chemical tanks with TA24 chemical tanks & started transferring into 200bbl holding tank. Request Kestrel U-P1 & U-P2 chemical MEG tanks to arrive Tern Alpha 16/05/08. Rigged off TA30 @ 21:00, On standby to sample TA17 &TA30. 11th May TA30 opened up @ 13:20 CITHP -1.7 BAR but unable to gain flow. Production exhausting all options. Requesting scaffold for TA24 & TA16 as this was utilized on another well. Tried sampling @ 21:30 but too much gas, Tried again TA30 still to gaseous. Platform closed in TA30 to try & build up pressure. 12th May Standby to sample TA30. TA17 opened up @ 08:57, CITHP 79 BAR, FWHP 10.5 BAR, TA17 hydrocarbon returns @ 13:10, only hydrocarbons being returned @ 18:00. Keep trying to get samples every hour up until 21:00 when N.Barr informed us to stop sampling on TA17,& only try every so often until shift change. 13th May
  • 10. TA16 shut in @ 11:15 CITHP 65BAR, rigged on to TA16 and commenced Scale Squeeze @ 14:50. Transferred remaining TA24 SCW82361 tanks in to 200BBL tank. Manifested all remaining empty chemical tanks for backload. Stopped attempting to obtain flow back samples from TA17 @ 09:00. 14th May Finished S/SQ on TA16 @ 04:40, Soak for 6 hours. Rigged off and job completed TA16 permit. Assisted production techs with TA26 WIT. Changed out TA24 empty SCW82361 tanks with Kestrel U-P1 SCW82361 tanks. TA16 begin flow back @ 13:50 and started flow back sampling @ 14:00 CITHP-20BAR, FWHP- 7.9BAR. TA16 tripped @ 14:40, TA16 begin flow back again @ 16:40. Scaffold for access toTA24 kill wing now in position. 15th May Continued to sample TA16.Plant tripped @ 04:25.Now leaving TA16 shut in until after 12 hr shut down. Crew change Ed Pattinson & Gordon Campbell on Kev Ritchie, Steve Lonie off. Rig onto TA24 & pressure test. 16th May Commenced with S/SQ program on TA24 @ 01:45 ,CITHP 35 Bar. Commenced bunkering diesel into 200bbl displacement tank. Attended permit meeting for Kestrel Permit. Water Injection shut down @ 17:00hrs.200bbl tank now full of diesel @22:05. 17th May Water injection now up & running commenced with S/SQ on TA24 @ 00:40. Commenced flow back on TA30 @ 03:15 THP 5.3Bar and started sampling @ 07:00.TA24 completed @ 08:28.Now in 6hr soak. Started sampling TA24 @ 16:30. Rigged onto Kestrel tie in point and pressure tested @16:40 18th May Completed sampling TA30 & TA24. Commenced Kestrel diesel flow line displacement 19th May Filled 200bbl tank with diesel & continued with Kestrel flow line displacement. Started treatment on Kestrel @ 09:45.Stop pumping as CCR have not configarated the valves properly. Need to pump an extra 509bbls to get main treatment down well. Start pumping again @ 19:50 after TOFS in the CCR. Simon Underwood crew changed out today for Simon Underwood. 20th May
