How does the Wii U stand in comparison to its Nintendo predecessor and other competitor consoles? Our gaming reviewer takes a look! Read more here: http://www.eatsleepdigitals.com/wii-u-review
2. What’s this all about?
Despite having cutthroat competition in the console and
handheld gaming market from the likes of Sony and Microsoft,
Nintendo has held its own ground.
When Nintendo made the announcement that they were
following up the phenomenal success of the Wii, expectations
were automatically very high. How does the Wii U stand in
comparison to its Nintendo predecessor and competitor
consoles?
3. Wii U compared to other
consoles
The amount of third party titles available for Wii U is very limited,
which leaves gamers with very little choice and variety. It is also
missing a Blu-ray player which has become a pre-requisite in
consoles.
Nintendo itself has made several judgment flaws; Wii U doesn’t
have any games that are compatible with 3DS, so basically the
cycle of not having enough titles continues to wreak havoc.
Finally not many mainstream games are playable on Xbox One
and PS4 are likely to be released for Wii U. And even if they do
get published, Wii U will have a very belated release compared
to its competitors.
4. Wii U strengths
The tablet style GamePad means the kids won’t be hogging the
family television set for their gaming purposes.
Nintendo has also very wisely played the backward compatibility
card enabling older Wii titles and accessories to be played. There
is also the lure of playing classic titles as Nintendo has tantalisingly
promised to port NES, SNES and Mega Drive games to the new
console.
For Old school gamers, there’s a nostalgic ride down memory
lane.
5. Verdict
Wii U is a totally kid friendly gaming console, except for titles
exclusively labelled for adults.
It’s always a solid hit at parties as it includes a plethora of
multiplayer games, meaning kids will never bother parents as the
Wii U is designed to be great fun played with others.
Overall, Nintendo has made vast improvements from the first
release of the console.
