PHILOSOPHY OF EARLY
CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
What is THEORY?

A statement of principles and ideas which attempts to explain events and
how things happen; in our case, it is learning more about early childhood.
WHAT is LEARNING?

Learning is a process of acquiring knowledge, behaviours,
skills, and attitude.
As a result of experiences, children
change in their behaviour, knowledge,
          skills, and attitude.
SO….
One can conclude that learning to be changes
that occur in behaviour over period of time.
        Example, children who enter kindergarten in January not same as they exit in
                                                                        November.
Learning is a complex process, so many
educators have developed theories to explain
why and how learning occurs in children.
We use child development to
explain changes in children’s lives.

  • 3. What is THEORY? A statement of principles and ideas which attempts to explain events and how things happen; in our case, it is learning more about early childhood.
  • 4. WHAT is LEARNING? Learning is a process of acquiring knowledge, behaviours, skills, and attitude.
  • 5. As a result of experiences, children change in their behaviour, knowledge, skills, and attitude.
  • 7. One can conclude that learning to be changes that occur in behaviour over period of time. Example, children who enter kindergarten in January not same as they exit in November.
  • 8. Learning is a complex process, so many educators have developed theories to explain why and how learning occurs in children.
  • 9. We use child development to explain changes in children’s lives.
