Abstract
Antimicrobial nanocomposites based on Brazilian propolis ethanol extract solution and bacterial cellulose (BC) membranes have been
prepared using a simple and fully green approach. BC/propolis nanocomposites membranes are flexible, macroscopically homogeneous
and also present large amounts of propolis. SEM images and XRD analyses confirm the propolis incorporation on to BC membrane
nanostructure. The antibacterial activity in the BC/propolis demonstrated to be dose-dependent, supporting an interesting possibility,
the obtention of propolis based membranes at the desired concentrations, taking into consideration its application and its skin residence
time.
