Finding Your Certification
Preparing for Your Exam
Esri Technical Certification exams recognize expertise in
three domains: desktop, developer, and enterprise use of
ArcGIS. Certifications are offered at two levels: Associate
and Professional. Sixteen certification exams are currently
available, with development under way for our next release.
The skills and knowledge you’ve acquired on the job are
the best preparation for your certification exam. You should
also review the Candidate Qualifications, Skills Measured,
and Training Resources sections on the Esri Technical
Certification website. From that, you can determine if your
skills align with the listed skills and qualifications.
Taking an Exam
Esri Technical Certification exams are offered at more than
5,000 testing locations in 165 countries through Pearson
VUE, Esri’s global testing partner. The computer-based
exams consist of 90–95 multiple-choice questions and take
approximately two hours to complete.
The cost of taking an exam is $225, with payment due at the
time of online registration. Exams are currently offered in
English only.
Esri has also introduced two Instructor-led Skills Review
courses and free sample question web courses to help you
prepare for the certification exams. The sample question
sets are offered as free web courses and can be completed
at your own pace and convenience.
These resources can help you do the following:
• Gain a better understanding of your strengths and
weaknesses
• Focus your preparation so the time you spend on your
own will be more productive
