EXECUTIVE SPONSORS
"PTC has a strong commitment to ensuring customer
success. Building strong alliances with key strategic
partners is an essential part of this strategy.
The PTC and Cadence Design Systems alliance
provides an outstanding example of the benefits
and increased value that can be provided to our
customers as a result of a strong technology-focused
partnership. Through close R&D collaboration we
have been able to bridge the gap between ECAD,
MCAD and PLM domains and provide the product
and service advantage that our customers require for
success"
“Cadence is committed to helping our customers
overcome the challenges they face when trying to
solve their process, data and electro-mechanical
design problems. Cadence seeks partnerships with
industry leaders, we’ve enjoyed a long and productive
relationship with PTC. Cadence has a long,
successful history developing PCB Design and ECAD
data management solutions to help our customers
solve their most challenging design and process
problem."

Long standing technology relationship

Maturing Partnership
Over the past 3-4 years we have evolved from technology partners to go to market partners to get closer to our joint customers so that we can not only tell our story which we think is compelling, but also to more easily collect feedback on customer needs in which to build back into our joint solutions.
As of today PTC and Microsoft are working together in close to 20 countries worldwide and have received great feedback from customers
Another key point is PTC’s standing in the Microsoft partner ecosystem and what that means for our customers.
It’s easy for me to say we’re a close partner of Microsoft but we both know there are tens of thousands of partners who probably say the same thing.
There are only 65 globally managed partners in Microsoft’s portfolio which are managed by 16 global account managers.
Most have an executive sponsor who is a General Manager in a business unit who is helpful but barely cracks the top 200 executives in Microsoft, so there are limits to their effectiveness.
PTC’s executive sponsor is a gentleman named Jon Roskill. Jon is a Corporate VP who owns the entire partner portfolio for Microsoft and sits three people from Steve Ballmer.
While that’s nice to talk about what’s really important is how Jon is active at solving our mutual problems
For example, PTC’s Mathcad solution, PRIME, is built natively on .NET. When Microsoft went from .NET 3.5 to 4.0 some changes they made had serious effects on the next version of PRIME, so much so that we felt we could not ship the product. Naturally the business unit at Microsoft said no when we asked them to redesign .NET to accommodate our use case. So, we escalated to Jon who with his political connections and PTC partner budget convinced the business unit to undertake the redesign and prioritize above their existing plans.
PRIME 2.0 released on time and with all planned functionality
I would like to see a better slide to set the stage for ADW. (see next slide)
Are these the correct slides to have in here? I believe the 16.6 ADW presentation is good and I want to make sure we have the correct slides with out any unnecessary slides. Again, the goal for having these slides in the back up deck is to easily get in explain what ADW is and then get back to the main presentation. The hope is that there is enough details in these slide to promote interest and set up a second meeting to present the full 16.6 ADW presentation with a demo.
This slide summarizes the value we bring to customers.
We recognize that PTC’s customers by and large have made significant investment in the Microsoft platform. They have done this to create an end-to-end IT platform across its businesses, from which to create a common experience for employees, unlock information worker productivity, and create leverage across its portfolio of investments.
PTC’s PLM platform significantly improves business processes across engineering, service, quality, and other business units to materially impact product development return on investment.
It therefore only made sense that our Product Development System architecture be both optimized for and in some cases built natively on the top of MSFT’s infrastructure. Most customers I talk to like how two of its more strategic partners are working together to enhance the customer experience.
-----
Bottom line, MSFT provides the IT infrastructure and has great relationships with the IT organization. PTC provides our Product Development System architecture built on the top of MSFT’s infrastructure and has a great relationship with Engineering. Together; including PTC’s investment in SharePoint, we provide tremendous customer value.
