4. CONTINUITY EDITING
In my group's preliminary task we used varied amounts of
continuity editing including; match on action, eyeline match and
180 degree rule. We were able to construct this very well and
were able to include all of them in our preliminary task. In the final
thriller task we included a few eyeline matches e.g. when
Eduardo stares and looks towards Christina. We weren't however
able to include all of the other styles of continuity editing, as they
weren't of relevant use to the plot of the thriller
5. CONTINUITY
From our experiences from the preliminary task, we have
improved our ability to maintain continuity throughout the film. In
contrast to the preliminary task, our finished thriller has
maintained the settings, costumes and props, actors and gained
clearer and more precise shots. Whereas the preliminary task
didn’t have any of these qualitites.
6. QUALITY OF SOUND
In terms of quality of sound we had no issues as our thriller
consisted mainly of a soundtrack but a few moments of diegetic
sound. In our preliminary task where there was primarily diegetic
sound, the quality was poor due to the use of the built in
microphone, which made it harder to hear the characters and
captured all the unwanted background sounds. During the
finished thriller, we still used the built in microphone on the
camcorder as we had no incentive of any intense dialogue, so
we left out the external microphone.
7. QUALITY OF SHOT
Since shooting our preliminary task I’ve noticed massive
improvements in the quality of our shots. This has been due to the
increased steadiness of camcorder when it’s being handheld.
Also the more constructive use of the tripod has contributed to
steadier shots. Also the variety of the shots we took in our finished
task in contrast to our preliminary task has increased, with the
effective use of the shot list and more creative camera work.
8. QUALITY OF IMAGE
Our group has seen massive improvements in the quality of the
images we use. In our preliminary task we came to verdict that
the locations contributed towards the image quality as lighting
wasn’t as clear in some of the rooms we filmed in during the
preliminary task. Whereas in the finished task there was natural
lighting throughout, which allowed the colours to blend correctly.
However it is not noticeable because during editing our group
decided to change the colours to black and white.
