5-Fasad 7- Jahr Bissu
6-Udwan 8-Kibr

4. 1-KUFR OR DISBELIEF
Say: "Obey Allah and His Apostle"; but if they
turn back Allah loves not those who reject Faith
Ale Imran,3:32
5. WHAT IS KUFR?
Kufr, linguistically means covering or concealing.
Legally (in the Sharee'ah): is opposite of Eemaan. It means
disbelieving in Allah and His Messenger due to
• denial
• doubts,
• suspicion,
• aversion,
• jealousy,
• arrogance
• following some whims which deters from adhering to the
Message.
6. 2 TYPES OF KUFR
I-The Greater Kufr or Kufr of Belief (Kufr Akbar)
It constitutes apostasy or exit from Islam and is of five kinds:
• Kufr of denial, as referred to in the following verse: "And
who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah, or
rejects the truth when it comes to him? Is there not an abode
in Hell for those who disbelieve?" 29: 68
• Kufr of arrogance with acknowledgement, as proven by the
words of Allah, the Exalted: "And when We said to the
angels: 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam,' and they all
prostrated except Iblees 2:34
7. GREATER KUFR
(KUFR AKBAR)
• Kufr of doubtfulness, as mentioned in the Words of Allah:
"And he entered his garden while he was wronging himself (through
arrogance). He said, 'I do not think this will ever perish; not do I think the
Hour will ever come. And even if I am ever brought back to my Rabb, I shall,
surely, find a better resort than this. His companion said to him while he was
arguing with him, 'Do you disbelieve (Kafarta) in Him Who created you from
soil, then from a sperm-drop, then fashioned you into a perfect man? But as
for me, I believe that Allah Alone is my Rabb, and I will not ascribe a partner
to my Rab 35:38
• Kufr of aversion. Its proof: "And those who (kafaru) disbelieve turn
away from what they have been warned with aversion. 46:3
• Kufr of hypocrisy, as proven by the Words of Allah: "This is because
they first believed, then (kafaru) disbelieved. So a seal was set upon their
hearts and consequently they do not understand.“ 63:3
8. II- MINOR KUFR OR KUFR IN
ACTIONS(KUFR ASGHAR)
The minor Kufr, or the Kufr in actions, does not constitute
apostasy or exit from Islam.
This type of Kufr comprises of sins that are referred to in the
Quran and the Sunnah as Kufr, but do not reach the level of major
Kufr,
Example of such kufr is expressing ungratefulness to the favors
of Allah, as Allah says: "And Allah sets forth for you a parable of
a city which enjoyed security and peace; its provision came to it
easily from everywhere; but it (Kafarat) denied the favors of
Allah." Nahl 16: 112
Prophet (SAW) said, "Reviling of a Muslim is an act of
disobedience and fighting him is Kufr."
9. 2) COMMITTING SIN:
He loves not creatures ungrateful and wicked
Baqarah,2:276
What is Sin in Islam?
Sin (dhanb', ) is any action that goes against the commands of
Allah (God). Islam teaches that sin is an act and not a state of
being.
“Righteousness is good morality and sin is that which causes
discomfort (or pinches) within your soul and which you dislike
people to become informed of.” [Sahih Muslim]
10. TYPES OF SINS
A-Major Sins: Kabair: According to Sahih Bukhari the seven
pernicious or deadly sins are:
"Avoid the seven noxious things"- and after having said this, the
prophet (saw) mentioned them:
1.associating anything with Allah (SHIRK)
2.witchcraft
3.killing one whom Allah has declared inviolate without a just case,
4.consuming the property of an orphan,
5.devouring usury,
6.turning back when the army advances, and
7.false accusation of chaste women who are believers but
indiscreet. Ibn Abbas(R) considers 70 to be kabair sins.
11. 2-MINOR SINS (SAGHAIR)
• Minor sins are acts which are displeasing to Allah but for
which no specific punishment or severe warning has been
issued.
• Minor sins are not, however, to be taken lightly, as
disobeying Allah is always a serious matter. Allah says:
“You counted it a little thing, while with Allah it was very
great.” (Qur'an 24:15)
• Minor sins can easily lead someone to commit a major sin
Repeatedly committing a minor sin will change its status
to that of a major sin.
• Habitual sinning causes a Muslim to lose faith and
disregard the commandments of Allah
12. FORGIVENESS OF SINS
1-Muslim must make sincere repentance for major sins by
showing genuine remorse, praying for Allah's Mercy and
Forgiveness, and avoiding that sin in the future.
2-Good deeds and extra acts of worship help expiate minor
sins
3-Only a person who avoids major sins will have good deeds
such as charity, praying, or fasting accepted as expiation for
minor sins. Allah says: “If you shun the great sins which you
are forbidden, We will do away with your small sins and
cause you to enter an honorable place of entering.” (4: 31)
13. 3- BETRAYAL OF TRUST (KHIYANAH)
Verily, Allah likes not any betrayer, ingrate to Allah ” 22:38
“Verily, Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer. 4:107
O ye that believe! betray not the trust of Allah and the
Messenger, nor misappropriate knowingly things entrusted
to you and you know it. 8:27
14. BETRAYAL OF TRUST
KHIYANAH
Khayanah is opposite to Amanah (honesty and to safeguard
the trusts)
It means treachery and betrayal of trusts & not to pay the
rights of individuals and of Allah (SWT) in honest way.
Khayanah happens by the heart, tongue, hands and feet etc.
Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all
that the hearts (of men) conceal. Ghafir, 40:19
15. KHIYANAH IS A SIGN OF
HYPOCRISY
Prophet (SAW) said,” Hypocrite has three
signs even if he fasts, establishes Salah
and considers himself a Muslim.
1. When he talks he lies.
2. When he promises he breaks the
promise.
3. When he is given Amanah, he commits
Khiyanah.
16. WARNINGS ABOUT
KHIYANAH
1. Muaz Ibn Jabal reported that when Prophet
(SAW) appointed him governor of Yemen he
called him. He said, “ I have called you for one
reason. Whatever you take without my
permission is Khiyanah. Every Khayan person
will bring his Khiyanah on the day of
Judgment.” (Tirmizi)
2. Once Prophet (SAW) said,” When we appoint an
official and he takes one needle or something
cheaper than that (unjustly) then it is
Khiyanah.”Muslim, Abu Dawood.
18. 4) OPPRESSION:
“Verily, He likes not the Thalimun (oppressors)
42:40
And Allah loves not those who are oppressors
3:57
O My servants, I have made oppression unlawful for Me and
unlawful for you, so do not commit oppression against one
another [Forty Hadith-Imam Nawawi 24]
19. WHAT IS ZULM?
• Zulm is the Arabic word used interchangably for cruelty or
unjust acts of exploitation, oppression, commit an injustice,
to treat unfairly, to be unjust, to torment or torture, to
transgress either verbally or physically, to go too far and
wrong doing, whereby a person either deprives others of
their rights or does not fulfill his obligations towards them.
• Zulm is placing something (or giving rights) not where it
belongs, but rather placing it where it does not belong
• Words like zulma(gloom), zulûmah (dark days) and zalâm
(darkness) are all derived from the same root and have a
meaning of darkness and gloom.
• Zalim-een are the people who commit zulm
20. 3 TYPES OF ZULM
1. Servant‟s zulm against Allah the most important of these
being shirk (belief in a god/gods other than Allah)
2. Zulm against other people, which includes all types of sins,
like murder, stealing and adultery.
3. Zulm against one‟s own nafs, self. This type of oppression is
the result of the first two. This means
• to ignore the divine commands;
• to live without a conscience,
• not taking the religious life or the afterlife seriously,
• deserving the divine punishment that is the result of such
actions.
21. REASONS FOR ZULM
1. People forget that they are servants of Allah and become
enslaved to something else
2. To think that this world is eternal and that the blessings of this
world will not come to an end, and that the Day of Judgment
will never occur
3. They believe the deceit of Satan and the provocation of the
nafs
4. Although Allah is always aware, people think that He is not
aware
5. They refuse to learn from the lessons offered by the fate of the
past tribes and communities
6. Failure to repent and correct their error
7. Failure in heeding the divine commands and warnings
22. 5) CORRUPTION:(
“And Allah likes not mischief.” 2:205
And Allah loves not those who do mischief.
23. FASAD IS A GRIEVOUS SIN
On that account: We ordained for the Children of
Israel that if anyone slew a person unless it be
for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it
would be as if he slew the whole people: and if
anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the
life of the whole people. 5:32
24. WHAT IS FASAD?
Fasad (Arabic: is corruption, unlawful warfare, or crimes
against law and order in the community. Fasad is a general
concept of social disorder. Islamic thinkers have defined acts of
terrorism as "fasad
“Fasad includes both domestic and international terrorism as
well as broader anti-social activities such as extortion,
organized crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.”
(Moniruzzaman. Journal of Religion & Society. Volume 10 :2008)
Hirabah' refers to illegal acts done under the principle of fasad.
Ibn Kathir: "Do not make mischief on the earth means, "Do not
commit acts of disobedience on the earth.” Their mischief is
disobeying Allah, Peace on both the earth and in the heavens is
ensured through obedience (to Allah).
25. 6) TRANSGRESSION:
O ye who believe! make not unlawful the good things which
Allah hath made lawful for you but commit no excess: for Allah
loves not those given to excess. 5:87
Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not
transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors. 2:190
26. OTHER AYAHS IN QURAN
Call on your Lord with humility and in private: for Allah loves
not those who trespass beyond bounds. 7:55
In a believer they respect not the ties either of kinship or of
covenant! It is they who have transgressed all bounds. 8:10
27. TYPES OF TRANSGRESSIONS
These are of two main kinds:
1- Transgression against Allah (SWT) by disobeying him,
crossing the limits by him,
2-Transgression against the people:
• Against human's soul by the act of abusing, torturing, or
killing,
• Against his wealth by theft or fraud,
• Against his honor and his reputation, by backbiting,
calumny and gossip(tattle).
28. GUIDELINES FOR VICTIM OF
TRANSGRESSION
And those who when an oppressive wrong is
inflicted on them (are not cowed but) help and
defend themselves.
The recompense for an injury is an injury equal
thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and
makes reconciliation His reward is due from
Allah: for (Allah) loves not those who do wrong.
Shura, 42:39-40
29. 7) PUBLICITY OF EVIL:
Allah does not like that evil should be uttered
in public except by him who has been
wronged. And Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-
Knower. 4:148
30. I- NO UTTERANCE OF EVIL IN
PUBLIC WITH ONE EXCEPTION
• Here Allah tells us that He does not like evil to be uttered in public,
i.e., He dislikes it and punishes for it.
• Evil includes all bad words that may cause hurt and make people
sad, such as reviling, slandering, impugning and so on.
• Exemption is given to one who has been wronged. It is permissible
for him to pray against the one who has wronged him, and to make
a complaint about him.
• He may speak out openly against the one who uttered evil against
him publicly, without telling lies about him and without going any
further in wrongdoing than he did.
• Forgiving him and not responding in kind is preferable, as Allah
says: “but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is
with Allaah”[ash-Shoora 42:40].
31. 3 AHADITH & AN OPINION
1. Prophet (SAW) said,” “When two people revile one another, the
sin of what they say is on the one who started it, so long as the
one who is wronged does not overstep the mark.”. ( Muslim).
2. Prophet (SAW) said: “O „Uqbah ibn „Aamir, uphold ties with
those who cut you off, give to those who withhold from you,
and forgive those who wrong you.” (Ahmad)
3. „Aa‟ishah (RA) said that a blanket of hers was stolen, and she
started to pray against the one who had stolen it. The Prophet
(SAW) said: “Do not reduce his burden of sin by making du„aa‟
against him.” (Abu Dawood)
Whoever is wronged and does not retaliate in word or deed, and
does not bear resentment in his heart, that will be his light among
people. (Al-Haytham ibn Mu„aawiyah(Tabe‟e) in Baihaqi)
32. II- PUBLIC REVILING IS SINFUL
• Reviling due to personal hatred ,envy, disliking of appearance,
lineage or conduct is sinful.
• It may lead to wiping out of person‟s good deeds and incur
chastisement of Allah
• Prophet (SAW) said: “Insulting a Muslim is an evil action and
fighting him is kufr.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
• Prophet (SAW) said: “The believer is not given to insulting,
cursing a great deal, obscene talk or foul speech.”(Tirmidhi)
33. III- REVILING IN ONE’S HEART
Prophet (SAW) said: “Allah has forgiven my ummah for what
crosses their minds so long as they do not act upon it or speak of
it. (Bukhari and Muslim)
If these thoughts become persistent and settle in the heart, they
may come under the heading of deeds of the heart for which a
person will be brought to account
Resentment, malicious envy, wishing ill, rejoicing in the
misfortunes of another, begrudging his happiness, resolving to
spread his secrets and transgress his privacy, making fun of him,
and other evil actions, these are the fruits of excessive anger.
(Tahdheeb Maw„izat al-Mu‟mineen)
It is sinful to form a solid idea and decides that another person is
bad and evil. As for passing thoughts, they are forgiven. (Al
Ghazali)
34. 8-BOASTING AND ARROGANCE
“Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster.”
31:18
It means boasting about what he has, while he
does not thank Allah. (Mujahid)
35. ARROGANCE AND BOASTING
Prophet (SAW) said,” One who indulges in arrogance
and
false boasting will not enter Jannah.” Abu Dawood.
37. WHAT IS KIBR / ARROGANCE?
Prophet (SAW) said,” Individual in whose heart is
arrogance equal to one atom will not enter the
Jannah.” A person asked one may love to have
good clothes and good shoes to wear (is this
arrogance?). Prophet replied,” Indeed Allah is
beautiful and He loves beauty. Arrogance is to
deny the truth and consider other people as
inferior.” Muslim.
38. ALLAH DOES NOT LIKE
ARROGANCE
Once a man asked the Prophet, “O Messenger of
Allah, advise me.‟ The Prophet said,
(Avoid lengthening the dress (below the ankles), for
this practice is from arrogance. Verily, Allah does
not like arrogance.)”
Abu Bakr said: “Sometimes my garment slips down on one
side, unless I pay attention to it.” The Messenger of Allah
(SAW) said, “You are not doing that out of pride.” Bukhari
39. 2 TYPES OF ARROGANCE
1-When a person does not accept the truth and
produces false arguments against it
2-When a person admires himself for his beauty or
handsomeness, or the fineness of his food or
clothing, so he feels proud and arrogant and feels
superior to people.
40. CHASTISEMENT IN THIS
WORLD
1-It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet (SAW)
said,
“Whilst a man was walking, dragging his garment with pride,
with his hair nicely combed, Allah caused the earth to
swallow him and he will go on sinking in it until the Day of
Resurrection.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3297; Muslim, 2088
2- “And he had property (or fruit) and he said to his
companion, in the course of mutual talk: „I am more than you
in wealth and stronger in respect of men‟” [al-Kahf 18:34]
Allah (SWT) completely destroyed his garden.
41.
42. CHASTISEMENT OF ARROGANT
IN AKHIRAH
“On the Day of Resurrection, the arrogant will be
gathered like ants in the form of men. Humiliation will
overwhelm them from all sides. They will be driven to
a prison in Hell called Bawlas, with the hottest fire
rising over them, and they will be given to drink of the
juice of the inhabitants of Hell, which is teenat al-
khabaal.”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi,
43. HOW CAN A PERSON
OVERCOME ARROGANCE?.
1- Know that arrogance is a blameworthy characteristic which is
the feature of Iblees
2- Humility is characteristic of the noble angels who obeyed
their Lord and fell down to prostrate.
3-Arrogance is a cause for a person to be deprived of Paradise
and may mean that the Lord of Glory will not even look at him
4-It was narrated that Abu Sa‟eed al-Khudri and Abu Hurayrah
said: The Messenger of Allaah (S) said Allah said : “Might is my
garment and pride is my cloak; whoever seeks to compete with
Me concerning them, I will punish him.”
Narrated by Muslim, 2620.
44. 9) EXULTANCE AND DELIGHT
FOR WORLDLY DESIRES
“Verily, Allah likes not those who exult (with riches, being
ungrateful to Allah.” 28:76
But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you,
the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal
enjoyment in this world, and do good as Allah has been good to
you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the
Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors,
tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts. Qasas,28:77
45. WHAT YOU SHOULD BE
DELIGHTED WITH ?
"Say: "In the Bounty of Allah, and in His Mercy (i.e. Islam and the
Qur'an); -therein let them rejoice ,that is better than the (wealth)
they hoard. Yunus,10:58
You should be delighted that :
• you are a believer
• you stand straight on Allah's Orders
• Allah enables you to perform good deeds
• you understand the Noble Qur'an
• you should be delighted with a righteous deed by which Allah
will raise your status (in Paradise).
46. 10) EXTRAVAGANCE:
“Do not indulge in extravagance. Certainly He (Allah) does
not like the extravagant.” 7:31
but squander not (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift.
Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil
One is to his Lord (Himself) ungrateful.
47. WHAT IS EXTRAVAGANCE?
The Arabic word Israf means „exceeding any legal, moral, ethical,
decorous or other appropriate limits‟. It includes extravagance. The
extravagance may be quantitative (i.e. Israf) or qualitative (i.e.
tabzeer).
One should not be extravagant in satiating one‟s hunger, thirst
[7:31; 6:141] or lust [7:81].
One should also not be extravagant in one‟s expenditures nor
should one be parsimonious [25:67].
Instead of spending lavishly for ostentation and show-off, it is
better to spend on the welfare of family, relatives, needy and the
homeless [17:26].
When they spend, they are neither extravagant and nor miserly,
but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes)” [25:67]
48. DUA
O‟Allah! I seek your protection from committing the sin of “Shirk”
(declaring any thing partner to you) knowingly and seek your
forgiveness for committing it unknowingly. I turn to you with
repentance about it. I declare my aloofness from kufr, shirk and
all the sins. I submit to you and declare my firm belief. I declare
there is no one worthy of worship but Allah and Mohammad (SAW)
is the messenger of Allah.
