A comminuted fracture is when a bone breaks into three or more pieces, making it challenging to treat. It can occur when the bone is shattered, splintered, or crushed. A greenstick fracture is an incomplete break where one side breaks and the other bends, common in children due to softer bones. An impacted fracture pushes bone fragments into each other from falls or collisions.
