1 CASTE SYSTEM:-castes are rigid group in india cast characterized by heridity
and transmission of life style ,,occupation , status but british formulate the system
and change it according to the jobs appointment and senior jobs always grant to
the christians & people belonging to the high class
2 LACK OF EQUALITY :- There was gender based discrimination during british
period there was also discrimination on religion basis they promote there
christianity and did not support any of the group
3 POOR CONDITION OF FEMALE ;- Females were not
allowed to vote married women's has no property rights .
husbands has legal power on wife they could beat them
women's were excluded from trade union
c) FEMALE INFANTICIDE :- means intentionally killing
of baby girl due to the desire of male baby
d) SEXUAL HARRESMENT :- during 19/20th century there
was high rate of sexual violence that include unwanted
sexual behaviour during that time females were used as
domestic servant
e)DOWRY HARRESMENT :_-torturing of wife for money ,property or other
assets by husban or family relatives during 19/20 century groom family
demand for dowry and if it was not fulfuil they harres the wife
4) LOW PER CAPITAN INCOME there was low per captian
income huge population depend on agriculture there was
heavy pressure of population


5)COLLAPSE OF INDIAN MARKET:-British industrialization took
place ,in india through this indian weavers faced many problems
there was collapse of their local market & shrinking of their local
market which flooded with cheap imported British goods .
6)BACKWARD TECNOLOGY ;- Britishers had advanced technology in
every field due to this indian manufactures were unable to meet the
demand britihers used advance tools & technology
Soccial and Cultural awaking in India were result of Indian renaissance


Renaissance meaning revival or rebirth was the great was great
transitional movement


RENAISSANCE
Renaissance was the great period that also influenced by
philosopher of western culture it was the western civilization taken
place in India
through it old culture was polished & generate new one
during this period new reforms taken place
Causes of Indian Renaissance
of 19/20th century
RELIGIOUS CAUSE :- In 18/19th century Indian society was
dominated by religious orthodoxy .Indian societies was
divided into caste & many sub-castes .Christian and Muslim
Missionaries took advantage of this situation and start
converting people into their on religion .
SPREAD OF WESTERN EDUCATION:-During 19/20th century there
was spread of western education .it gave indians a opportunity to
study through of western philospher & intellectuals.
PROPAGATION OF CHRISTANITY :-They put efforts to remove
socio-religious evil from India and bring awarness among them
LITERATURE :- Books,Magazines and Newspaper gave birth to the
national feeling .
PRINTING PRESS & PRINTING MATERIAL:-Due to the establishmen
of printing press in India ,newspaper&Magzines were pulished in
english in 1875 .
INFLUENCE OF FOREIGN SCHOLARS:- WILLIAM JOHN &
MAXMULLER translated the Indian Scriptures in English . Indians &
Europeans took inspiration from the glorious past
