Nikon Corporation is a Japanese multinational specializing in optics and imaging. It is part of the Mitsubishi Group and descends from the Mitsubishi zaibatsu. Nikon was founded in 1917 and merged three leading optical manufacturers. It has five plants in Japan and a global network across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Middle East, and Africa. Nikon aims to increase its market share in India for DSLRs from 45% to 50% and capture 25% of the compact camera market. It plans to expand its brand, strengthen business functions, and explore new products and services.
