-Traditional solutions could not compensate for the climate change
impact due to various reasons partly due to uncontrolled
urbanisation
-Frequent urban floodings caused substantial damages to the urban
infrastrucure, properties and human lives
- EU directives to be followed push desicion makers to undertake
improvements on the sewerage systems

65. CONCLUSIONS – LESSONS LEARNED
STRUCTURAL MEASURES, BEING TRADITIONAL APROACH ARE IN URBAN AREAS
EXPENSIVE AND CAN NOT ACCOMODATE FOR EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGES
NON-STRUCTURAL MEASURES ARE HELPING IMPROVING OVERALL
PERFORMANCE OF THE SS
GIS / SCADA FURTHER IMPROVES SS MANAGEMENT
BLUE GREEN CONCEPT FURTHER IMPROVES WATER / ENERGY CYCLE IN CITIES
BALANCING INPUTS AND OUTPUTS, ENABLING SUISTAINABLE FUTURE
COMBINATION OF STRUCTURAL AND NON-STRUCTURAL MEASURES
SUPPORTED BY BLUE GREEN CONCEPT WILL ALOW THE MOST BALANCED
MULTICRITERIAL SOLUTIONS
BY IMPLEMENTING COMBINATION OF STRUCTURAL , NON-STRUCTURAL AND
BLUE-GREEN MEASURES ONE CAN ACHIEVE HIGHER URBAN STANDARD, HIGHER
SECURITY AND LOWER O/M COSTS
