last October.
People in Canada
also celebrate
Thanksgiving, but

Monday in
October.

Thanksgiving at Aunt Emily’s house.
Americans
usually join their
extended family
for Thanksgiving
dinner.
Grandparents,
aunts, uncles,
cousins, etc.

6. I don’t like travelling these days.
I’d rather stay at home.

families, and
people travel
great distances
to be with their
families for this
occasion.

other foods, such
as soy products,
rice, fruit,
vegetables and big
salads.

plays a part in
Thanksgiving
celebrations.
Many families
watch the New
York City Macy's
Thanksgiving Day
Parade.

see it every year.
The parade
includes marching
bands, floats, songs
and performances
from Broadway
musicals, and giant
helium-filled
balloons!

department store
organised its first
parade in 1924.

enjoy televised
football games.
Most professional football games are
played on Sundays, but Thanksgiving is

prepare a free

This is my cousin Emma. She is a
very caring person.

together to play board or card
games together..
After the feast
families often do
additional activities.
Some like to take
walks after eating
such a large meal.
Some people take
naps.

18. During “Black Friday”, prices are
really attractive.
The day after
Thanksgiving is
the first day of
Christmas
shopping.
Stores have
sales that start
early in the
morning to
attract
shoppers.
