   économique,	
   appelée	
   aussi	
   IE,	
   semble	
   être	
   une	
  
traduc4on	
   erronée	
   émanant

   mot	
   anglais	
   Intelligence,	
   mot	
   qui	
  
signifie	
  «	
  Renseignement	
  »	
  dans	
  la	
  langue	
  de	
  Shakespeare.	
  Selon	
  la	
  
concep4on	
  anglo-­‐saxonne,	
  l'intelligence	
  économique	
  se	
  traduit	
  plus	
  
volon4ers	
   par	
   Intelligence	
   compé77ve	
   (compe77ve	
   intelligence).	
  
C'est	
   d’ailleurs	
   à	
   l’intelligence	
   compé44ve	
   que	
   Michael	
   Porter	
   fait	
  
référence,	
   notamment	
   à	
   travers	
   son	
   ouvrage

  connaître

Qu’est  réellement  l’intelligence  économique?   •  L'intelligence   économique,   appelée   aussi   IE,   semble   être   une   traduc4on   erronée   émanant   du   mot   anglais   Intelligence,   mot   qui   signifie  «  Renseignement  »  dans  la  langue  de  Shakespeare.  Selon  la   concep4on  anglo-­‐saxonne,  l'intelligence  économique  se  traduit  plus   volon4ers   par   Intelligence   compé77ve   (compe77ve   intelligence).   C'est   d’ailleurs   à   l’intelligence   compé44ve   que   Michael   Porter   fait   référence,   notamment   à   travers   son   ouvrage   «   Compe77ve-­‐ Strategy  :  techniques  for  analyzing  industries  and  compe7tors  ».    Il   en  découle  une  divergence  d'interpréta4on,  caractérisée  aussi  sur  le   terrain  par  une  différence  de  méthodologie,  dès  lors  qu'il  s'agit  de   traduire   concrètement   ce   qu'est   l'intelligence   économique   par   un   processus.         L'intelligence  compé44ve   3   David  Malinvaud   20/11/2013   Copyright©4GE32E4

Interprétation  française   •  Pour  les  Français,  le  mot  intelligence  vient  du  la4n  intelligen7a,  de   intelligere   et   intellectum,   qui   signifie   comprendre   ;   autrement   dit   formalisant  la  «  Faculté  de  connaître  et  de  comprendre,  de  saisir  la   pensée   ».   Les   mots   que   l’on   pourrait   y   associé   sont   :   esprit,   entendement,   intellect,   pensée.   Ce`e   représenta4on   relève   d'une   dimension   métaphysique,   d'une   spécula4on   sur   des   choses   abstraites,  n’abou4ssant  qu’à  des  solu4ons  par4elles  aux  problèmes   donnés.  La  réflexion  et  l'approche  sont  purement  intellectuelles  et   conceptuelles,   voire   spirituelles,   en   tout   cas   en   référence   à   une   «  faculté  »  donnée  ;  a  contrario  qui  n’introduit  pas  de  méthodologie.   Ce`e  représenta4on  de  l'intelligence  est  donc  générale  et  abstraite.   L'intelligence  compé44ve   5   David  Malinvaud   20/11/2013   Copyright©4GE32E4

Vision  anglo-­‐saxonne   •  Chez  les  Anglo-­‐Saxons  en  revanche,  le  mot  intelligence  se  traduit  par   le   mot   français   renseignement,   et   par   extension   Services   de   renseignement.   Traduc4on   donc   du   mot   anglo-­‐saxon   intelligence   qui,   associé   au   mot   renseignement   et   selon   l'Académie   Française   (1762),   prend   le   sens   de   «Donner   un   renseignement,   indiquer   ».   C'est  un  dérivé  du  la4n  signare,  qui  signifie  indiquer,  et  signum  qui   signifie  signe.     L'intelligence  compé44ve   6   David  Malinvaud   20/11/2013   Copyright©4GE32E4
