This document summarizes a presentation given by Mara Kaufmann and Nazik Roufaiel at the 2010 Empire State College Center for Distance Learning Regional Conference on ePortfolios. The presentation covered the history and evolution of ePortfolios from print-based portfolios in the 1980s to modern electronic portfolios that make use of multimedia and web 2.0 features. Benefits of ePortfolios discussed included facilitating lifelong learning, documentation of achievements, and reflection on learning. Various ePortfolio platforms and tools were also presented.

better understand learning goals (88%),
think about what they have learned in college (89%),
and reflect on the knowledge and skills they
have developed (91%).
