Ownership
Systems owned by the business have better chances of adoption
Systems owned by IT see high usage (due to top down mandates), but low
adoption
whats the difference between usage and adoption?
Will the SP 2013 app marketplace change how ‘owns’ SharePoint? <---- I hope
so!
At least having apps based in SharePoint allows for apps to be merged and/or
integrated easily.

Some Follow Up Resources
Thanks to Ben for this suggestion.
Here are the two blogs he suggested as good starting places for discussions of similar focus:
Dave Snowden of Cognitive Edge: http://cognitive-edge.com/blog/author/19/
Paul Culmsee of CleverWorkArounds: http://www.cleverworkarounds.com/
Here are two of my favourites:
Marcy Keller’s SharePoint Muse blog: http://www.thesharepointmuse.com/
Jakob Nielson’s resources on: http://www.useit.com/
And to see the beginnings of a series of posts around SharePoint from Dachis Group: http://
www.dachisgroup.com/2012/06/sharepoint-2010-why-after-2-years-is-it-still-so-hard/
The next one will focus on the user experience issues of the SharePoint interface, taking a
heuristic analytic approach.
