Technologies
1. Technologies.
In this PowerPoint Presentation, I shall be identifying the
technologies that I have used and will continue to user in
order to make my magazine.
2. List of technologies used:
• Canon 500DD camera
• Adobe Indesign CS6
• Adobe Photoshop CS6
• Studio Lights
• Smoke machine (Hopeful)
3. Canon 500DD
This is a standard, Canon 500DD camera which I have been using to take a
variety of pictures which will be significant to my magazine article.
The Canon 500DD has helped me to take digital images in a quality that I
wouldn’t be able to get on any of my cameras at home or my phone camera.
I would say that digital cameras are best types of camera to use because they
produce clear and detailed images with a sharp finish. I wanted my photo
shoot pictures to be sort of quirky, so the fact that I had sharp and distinct
images did help that in some way.
The Canon 500DD camera can have a range of attachments applied to it. One
of these attachments is the receiver that is used to link the camera to the
studio lights – which is what I will be discussing next.
4. Studio lights.
There is not too much to say about these pieces of equipment, but they are
still influential when it comes to making my magazine.
They do not have any sort of direct effect on the magazine itself, but they
are vital when it comes to taking pictures in a photo shoot. In the photo
shoot studio, four of these camera lights are positioned around the white
background screen. Two are to the side and two are directly in front. They
link to the camera via a small receiver which is plugged into the back of
them prior to a shoot.
These studio camera lights are used to add the highest amount of quality to
the picture that they possibly can. They work by flashing all at the same
time so that the picture can be defined to the point of perfection. The
cameras were very helpful when I was taking my pictures because they
provided a real sense of quality to the pictures, as well as defined edges and
concentrated colour.
5. Adobe InDesign CS6
Adobe InDesign is the software package that I have been using almost
entirely to make my magazine. This brilliant piece of software is more
simple than programmes such as photoshop and is incredibly user
friendly.
The programme itself allows the user to create pages that are best suited
to how they want their product to look. They get the option of how many
rows and columns that they want on the page, which appear in a bright
purple line. These are used as guidelines for the user, so they know
where to place boxes, pictures and text. The guidelines should be used if
the user wants to end with a neat and professional looking end product.
These can be hidden by simply pressing W.
InDesign has a range of shortcuts that make the programme easier for
the user to work with. This is the most user friendly piece of software I
have used in any work.
6. Adobe Photoshop CS6
As of late, I have not found a real use for Adobe Photoshop, but there is a
possibility that I will be using this to make tweaks to my magazine.
Photoshop is used by millions of people to edit photos so that they can
make them look however they please. Photoshop can also be used to
create posters, magazine covers and many other pieces of tangible media.
When I created my film magazine last year, Photoshop was used for just
about everything. Creating the magazine itself, editing pictures, writing up
the text and much more. This year however, Photoshop has almost been
redundant for most people.
I may be using Photoshop in order to remove backgrounds from some
pictures if I choose to use them on a white background page. I could only
imagine that my whit background page would be the front cover of my
magazine, in which I have taken pictures on a white background to use for
it anyway.
