Artist: Stephanie Sin Title: Habit – Inhibition Medium: Oil, acrylic, sand, dry pastel and chalk on canvas Size: 152cm x 107cm (2 panels) Art description Gazing at your neighbours' windows is supposed to be a taboo, which I have found the meaning of taboo has changed in this century in this place - Hong Kong. It is no longer just consider as unspeakable and shameful, but at the same time can be something for sharing and even praised about. The meaning of taboo has become contradict, the thesis of taboo has become confused, and taboo has become a taboo itself. Artist bio Stephanie Sin 's rhythmical and abstract imageries, insinuates the paradox in lives through her experiences on fragmentations of individual and collective daily routines of existence. As a painter, she received her BA(FA) from RMIT University co-presented with the HKAS in 2008.
Artist: Stephanie Sin Title: Perspective I Medium: Oil on Canvas Size: 50 x 70 cm Art description A city full of identical buildings, it is the citizens' marks that had been made onto the buildings, creates uniqueness for those seemed identical. On the other hand, any architectural modification would be named as Unauthorized Building Works. As an artist, I have no intension to celebrate these unauthorized building works, but found them the only clues for me to see the "real stories" in Hong Kong. Artist bio Stephanie Sin 's rhythmical and abstract imageries, insinuates the paradox in lives through her experiences on fragmentations of individual and collective daily routines of existence. Artist: Wong Chun Hei Title: Sunflower Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Size: 140 cm (H) x 210 cm (W) Art description I often walk around slowly inside the video game world until noticing a beautiful landscape scenery, then I will start painting it. Numbers of people have asked me this question, 'Why don't you just paint the "real" landscape rather than this fictitious space?' My answer is that the paintings I done are about the world more realistic than the "real" one. Today, we can easily find people playing with their portable video games when they are on train or on the road. I can judge that those people would get closer with the natural area in video game's world than the one which our bodies can touch with. And although people who play the video games can go through many places in it, their mind of participation in game are bound by the original game rules, thus it is passive in nature. What I am now doing is to set up my own game rule inside the fictitious world. I prefer choosing action games, such as car racing games which require the player to drive fast to compete with others, I will just drive slowly and look for pretty scenery, my works ' Toril', 'Sunflower" and 'The lake' are painted with this rule. Artist bio Learned drawing in Guangzhou when Wong Chun Hei was in form two, making him understand the importance of entire in art making. Graduated from FAA CUHK in 2008, Chun Hei rent a studio in Fotan to continue his art, mainly painting from the scenery of Video Games

Artist: Lam Tin Na Title: Sublimed Memories 2 Medium: Mixed media on wood Size: 65cm x 60 cm Art description Canvas is like a stage for me to consolidate my memory and my feeling. Through the act of painting, I record my seeing and experiences, which sometimes are even from my dreams of it. Fragmented and forgotten memories in the dreams and reality are juxtaposed, gathered and reconstructed into a form of existence that lies in between the realm of real and unreal. This series of "Sublimed Memories" was inspired by the seasonal change of London, where I tried to consolidate my feeling on the wood. Through a constrained selection of materials and techniques, limited use of colour, I focused my attention to detail and explored the intrinsic quality and texture of the media itself, which lead to much more engaging imaginative terrains. Artist bio Tina Lam ATCL(piano) ATCL(violin) BA(hons)(CUHK) MA(CSM) Tina Lam was born in Hong Kong in 1984. She was trained to be a musician since she was 6, learning violin and piano. Artist: Damon Tong Title: Hey Medium: Artists' name cards (32 designs, 200 each), collage on wall Size: 243cm x 457cm Art description in January 2010 I was invited to participated a group show which featured 32 artists from Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The group show was a part of a festival which stressed the importance of cultural exchange between 2 cities. Failing to know most of the artists of the list and willing to stop myself from embarrassment on the opening night. I started to "google" every artists background, yet all these "research" became the medium of my work. I used the information I found from the internet to design the name cards for every artists on the show. Half of the name cards I produced were used to create a collage work with a hallow Chinese character of "hey" ("hello" equivalent for Southern Chinese) in the middle. The other half of the name cards were given to each exhibiting artists during the opening night as gifts. Artist bio  Damon TONG obtained his BA (Fine Arts) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) / The Art School, Hong Kong Arts Centre in 2008 with a major in painting. He served as exhibition co-ordinator for "White Tube" of Hong Kong Art School between 2005 and 2009. On the same year at 2009 he and his friend together established "Rental United", a collective which focuses on collaborative experimentation. He focuses on connections between segmentation and domestic objects through repetitive arrangement of paintings.

Artist: Wong Hiu Fung, Apple Title: The Red Line Medium: Mixed Media (Acrylic on canvas, thread, hair) Size: 40 cm (h) x 90 cm (w) x 3 pieces Art description In Chinese tradition, "red line" symbolizes fate. Human beings usually separate themselves into different groups. Every life is filled with strangers, people seemingly unrelated. However, no matter where we came from, to have met only once, or even we never met each other, there is always a "red line" connected us. Is it coincidence? Or is it inevitable? collected some hair from my friends and used them in my artwork to symbolize the uniqueness of everybody. Artist bio  Participated exhibitions: 2011, Memories of King Kowloon, Hong Kong 2011, Reproduction Exhibition, Hong Kong 2010, Rotten Exhibition, Hong Kong Statement: I am still exploring the meaning of Art by creating various artworks. Though creation, my aim of exploration is not only Art, but also myself. This process is the most beautiful thing which I am recently experiencing.

Artist: Lau Yin Kan Title: Marketing Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Size: 70 x 55 cm Art description This painting is about the sad but practical truth of the business and marketing world. However, the marketing tactics and how products are brought into the society really takes advantage of different human psychological conditions. These conditions include materialism and never ending desires. This painting is a scenario where if scientists and researchers were to invent a functional time machine, the purpose of it would to be able to promote and sell the iPhone. It physically enters our mundane life and exits dutifully. It is common practice in HK to line the birdcage with newspaper and change it daily. Here, I use such non-discriminatory cropping to provide the bases for new narratives, new insights and unlimited possibilities. Artist bio  Eunice CHEUNG Wai Man was born in 1986 and studied the Master of Fine Art program in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Artist: Lee Kai Chung Title: The Lost Roads no.14 Medium: Pigment print Size: 150 x 98 cm Art description A road / passage is defined by the daily behavior and habit of human being, on the other hand, the human existence transcends the merely geographic location and transforms it from "place" into "space". Michel de Certeau first creates the term "Narrative action", which relates to the human behavior that can generate stories. He claims that is a practice of organizing and developing space effectively, in the sense that it rephrases the "place" in a particular time frame and makes it relational. In the past thirty years, the Hong Kong government has been pruning over 300 roads in the record of Highways department, the official reason is large scale construction projects, including domestic housing and commercial buildings. The post-colonial city planning forces the "space" to push away history, as a result, stories are lost, and consequently human behavior is restrained by the stereotype of metropolitan city. "The Lost Roads" is a series of photographs, in which I document the lost roads sites, and present the relationship between the missing and existing stories. The non-durable quality of the photographs enhances the idea of this piece as a city monument. Artist bio Born and raised in Hong Kong, Lee was graduated in BA Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is fascinated by the relationship of time, space and human beings. His recent photography project, The Lost Roads, is about the physical, social and contextual transformation of space, and he further investigate how local inhabitants react to the gradual change of the post-colonial government policy. The sequence of his project work involves scrupulous planning, research and execution, and yet he does not reject randomness and chance encounter throughout the art making process. He is currently working on mockumentary project, Unwelcome Visitors, which is about the history of his home and some unseen visitors that he has been living with him since he was born.
Artist: Lai Wai Lam Title: Three Long and Two Short Medium: Acrylic, chinese ink on canvas Size: 100 X 70 cm Art description "Three Long and Two Short" is actually a direct English translation of a Chinese idiom which means "accident". In the picture, five animals are painted honestly in a realistic style which is combined by Chinese delineative painting and western painting skill where with a contrast of three beasts (strength) and two innocent animals(weakness). It is to think about what if or if two different cultures or simply languages can talk at the same time as the title of the painting, to a person who does not understand this idiom, can only be a visual image. A plain white color applied on the background is a kind of space left for one's imagination which is actually one of the Chinese philosophy. Artist bio  I am a normal person just interested in drawing. I enjoy doing Chinese and western art which bring me to a peaceful place where I have unlimited time to think about life and to talk to nature. I always dream to live and play with wild animals while somehow I think human is foolish. The world of art let me breathe freely and think deeper, that is why I am living in it.
Artist: Tai IatKuan Title: Seasoning Medium: Oil, Acrylic and mixed medium Size: 90cm x 60cm Art description There are many things I try to do in my works - ranging from depicting life to exploring ways of presenting my inner ideologies of arts. I also want to reflect events surrounding me through art. Painting, sculpture... are medium I deploy to present my daily observation based on my intuition. Bright colors and geometric patterns are simple and direct expression thoughts and feelings with experiment artistic elements. Attempt to guide the audience through the works to understand the hidden meaning. Seasoning: Balance, harmony, running.relationship with which other. The seasoning is improving the food more delicious. Is it necessary? Make it reconcile starting from love. Artist bio  Education 2009-2011 MA in Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong 2006 BA in Fine Arts (Painting), RMIT University, Australia 2003 Diploma in Fine Arts, The Hong Kong Art School 2001 Certificate in Western Art, School of Continuing and Professional Studies The Chinese University of Hong Kong Selected Group Exhibitions & Solo Exhibition 2011 Fotanian Open Studio, Hong Kong 2010 art n connectors, Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, Hong Kong 2009 Oasis-Mirage, Hong Kong International Sculpture Symposium, West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, Kowloon, Hong Kong 2009 Invitational Exhibition for Young Artists, Wan Fung Art Gallery, Hong Kong 2007 Reconstructing the Exit - Solo exhibition of Amy Tai Iat-Kuan, Murmur Gallery centre, Hong Kong. 2006 Philippe Charriol Foundation Art Competition Exhibitions, Hong Kong 2005 RMIT University Exhibition for Painting Graduates, Melbourne, Australia Collections Private collections in Australia and Hong Kong
