2. Few facts about the material.
Since Ancient time man has always tried to implement biocompatible materials that would cause no harm to the
body. In 600 B.C. Mayas used sea shell as dental implants, Egyptians used ivory to fabricate teeth; is also well
known that George Washington used to have a wooden tooth.
The discovery of polyhexamethyleneadipamide or best known as Nylon in mid 30‘s is one of those things that
change the world. This material, was discovered by a chemist Wallace Carathers in 1935, however this was not
patented until 1937. The Initial name was Fiber 66, however was not
very appealing, so a committee was created in order to find a more
appropriate name. Duparoon and No Run were the best two chosen.
They were used for long time until the Nylon was chosen. This name
is believed to be chosen because it was the combination of the two
cities in which was sold New York (NY) and London (Lon).
This man-made fiber, derived from air, coal and water, was
revolutionary for different industries; one of the first uses was in the form of bristles for toothbrushes, then during
the World War II was used for parachutes and all other military supplies, such as tires, tents, ropes and many
more.
Due to the extraordinary characteristics such as durability, thermoplastic, high elongation, high resistance to
insects, fungi, molds and many chemicals, Nylon has been used in many different fields.
The dentistry industry has benefit from it for a long time. Since the early 50’s this material has been
successfully utilized and today is still a vital part of every lab.
3. Flexible is better
Labs and patients around the world understand the value of having flexible partial dentures.
Flexibility it’s logically a fundamental added value to partial dentures that benefit patients by
boosting their confidence, and improving the actual feel.
For many decades rigid and metal-base removable partials have been used in millions of cases
across the globe. The common issues with those solutions are recurrent: pain, unmanageable,
bulky, heavy, loose and so on.
Today millions of labs prefer to use F-RPDs (Flexible-Removable Partial Dentures) for a variety of
reasons; below are some:
No metal hook - only hooks in the color that match the natural color of teeth and gum
More resistant to stains than other flexible acrylics
Perfect Flexibility
Possibility of relining and repair
Not deform or embrittle
More comfortable, more durable and more
resistant.
All the materials used for the development of F-
RPDs are biocompatible. Biocompatibility is a
prerequisite, driven by the need to improve and /
or restore a particular biological function, without
interfering or interact adversely with the body's
physiological activities.
As result of this superb material being extremely flexible and at the same time very resistant, all
the protheses developed with it, are more comfortable because they are supported by the tissue,
which compress and therefore avoid the movement. With an ordinary rigid denture most of the
problems are occurring during the mastication, in fact in cases of sustained bites the opposite side
tent to pop off, due the rigidity.
Being F-RPD design less complex and less laborious than ordinary dentures, there is less room for
possible errors. On the contrary there are fewer steps during the development process of flexible
dentures, for instance preparation of natural teeth is no more required, metal frames can be
simplified or completely eliminated. Therefore, labs investments into expensive machinery and
system, is reduced drastically, so is the exposure to what are considered to be hazardous
materials.
4. The System
2AD
At the core of our technology is the automatic system that allows the development of F-RPDs.
The system specifically developed for production of flexible partials is undoubtedly the most
advance available on the market.
Worldwide there are a number of companies that are currently producing injection
systems, and cartridges with the thermoplastic materials.
Choosing the right one is not easy, systems can represent a substantial investment for a
lab, therefore making the right decision is essential and above all cost effective.
At Dental Flex Italia our experts, have been evaluating and trying out most of the materials
and systems available on the market for over two years. This has been a laborious and
costly period, however, this is what gives us an edge on our competitors.
We have tested most of the materials, so we know exactly what is working and what is not,
so our clients can get the best without taking any risks.
The Micro-Injection system
2AD produced by Sabilex, is a
fully automated system used
for the production of:
Flexible partials
Removable dentures
Bruxism devices
Ant-snoring devices
Aesthetic clasps
Mouth guards
And much more...
The 2AD does everything automatically. Heats the cartridge, increases the temperature
and maintains constant until the optimal conditions are reached. Thereafter the cartridge is
fired through the injection system towards the flask that contains the model.
The system can perform between 10 and 15 injections in a normal working day; it does not
need any maintenance, except cleaning and chamber’s lubrication.

Thermoplastic resins have been used in dentistry for over 50 years. During that time
the applications have continued to grow, and the interest in these materials of both
the profession and the public has increased. The materials have superior properties
and characteristics and provide excellent esthetic and biocompatible treatment
Thermoplastic resins and co-polymers have many advantages over conventional powder or liquid
resin systems. Thermoplastic resins tend to have predictable long-term performance. They are stable
and resist thermal polymer unzipping. They also exhibit high creep resistance and high fatigue
endurance as well as excellent wear characteristics and solvent resistance. Thermoplastic resins
typically have very little or almost no free monomer in the material.
A significant percentage of the population is allergic to free monomer and these materials offer a new
safe treatment alternative for these individuals. In addition, thermoplastic materials have almost no
porosity, which reduces biologic material build up, odors, and stains and exhibit higher dimension and
color stability. All of these factors become important when producing long-term provisional prostheses
during implant or complex restorative cases, or when used for permanent removable appliances
As for the system, worldwide there are different producers of thermoplastic materials, and as
for the system our experts have been involved in some intense testing including major player
on the market like: Valplast, Bredent, Flexite, TCS and many more and the result is that our
materials are extremely superior comparing to theirs.
We offer a variety of options and shades to choose from, for all different applications.
Sabilex® thermoplastics are safe, non-toxic, biocompatible, comfortable, and biologically
inert.
Sabilex® dental plastics are FDA medical grade and CE First Class certified (1st. class
certificate do not require a number under the CE mark). Dental cartridges are factory vacuum
sealed and do not require
pre-heating.
Some applications of this
thermoplastic include: preformed
partial denture clasp, flexible tooth
born partial denture framework,
single cast partial dentures,
temporary crowns and bridges,
provisional crowns and bridges,
occlusal appliances, implant
abutments, orthodontic and sleep
apnea appliances.
Sabilex® materials are offered
exclusively with the our system, in
order to guarantee high standards,
exclusivity and top performances.
