2. Week 5 Introduction
In this final week of class, you’ll have time to
finish your revision and use my feedback to
improve your paper. Be sure to address the
areas I have pointed out on the grading rubric
and in-text comments. Take your time revising,
editing, and proofreading your work this week.
Your final paper should be the best assignment
you have ever submitted!
You have a number of resources at your disposal through the Ashford Writing
Center. Not only can the staff of writing consultants review your work, but you
can also help yourself by reviewing the instructional materials located within
the writing center website.
3. Week 5 Introduction
Remember, you have access to library
tutorials and librarian office hours. If
you have trouble with final research
activities or need help finding one last
source, contact a librarian right
away. They are available to assist you!
Finally, try using the Grammarly tool. Instructions for how to set up a
free account was provided in the Announcements during the first week
of the course. You will need to have your account set up to participate
in this week’s discussion. Grammarly is a valuable resource that can
provide you with constructive feedback for revising your paper.

DISCUSSION: PROOFREADING YOUR DRAFT
Please review the grading rubric to see how this discussion will be evaluated.
Before drafting your initial post, make sure you view the tutorial about setting
up and using Grammarly to assist you with proofreading and revisions.
In your initial posting, remember to post your original paragraphs from your
rough draft and your final paragraphs, labeling them appropriately. After
posting your original and revised work, comment on your Grammarly feedback
report, addressing the questions and providing the details outlined in the
assignment instructions.

The final step is the final draft!
Remember, growth is part of the
writing and revision process, so
don’t be afraid to make the
changes that will ultimately
strengthen your arguments
and claims.
As you go through the revision process, you should do so with an eye
on my in-text and summary suggestions, as well as any feedback that
you received from your peers, your Grammarly feedback report, and the
Ashford Writing Center.

WRITING THE FINAL DRAFT
I also encourage you to read your
essay out loud to yourself or a friend.
This technique will allow you to notice
some details that you may have
overlooked while simply reading to
yourself.
When rereading, take note of specific terms and/or techniques that you
may have previously overlooked. Use the Week Four “Review: Checking
Your Work” questions (found in your Week Four Guidance) to identify
additional areas in need of further analysis, support and/or clarification.

Finally, take time to think critically
about your work in this class. Use
the Week 5 Discussion to summarize
everything you’ve learned and identify
areas for improvement. Make specific
plans for improvement and continue to
grow as a writer with each passing class.
