Have you ever seen a great product and then experienced its dismal marketing campaign? I ran across one of those the other day. A product that literally created the market. These are my thoughts on rebooting the marketing for Dust Networks (now Linear Technology) SmartMesh Internet of Things radios.
First rule: Lead with the benefits, follow with the proof!
2. Opportunity
• #Microsoft says: #IoT will become a $1.6 trillion market within 4
years, $19 trillion within a decade
• 2012 spending on #IoT technology and services created revenues of
US$4.8 trillion, to reach $8.9 trillion by 2020
• Components, processes, and IT support for #IoT to expand from $4.8
trillion in 2012 to $7.3 trillion by 2017
3. Opportunity (2)
• #InternetOfThings will grow into a $8.9-trillion industry with a
installed base of 212 billion by 2020
• The Internet of Everything is a $19 trillion global opportunity over the
next decade
• #IoT connected devices could number 50 billion by 2020, data
generated could reach 50 trillion gigabytes
4. Reimage Marketing
• Companies are experiencing a huge shift in the way customers spread
the word about their products
• Way more word of mouth
