Inspection findings
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder's dedication and commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for
children are exceptional. She monitors the effectiveness of all aspects of her provision
extremely well. Parents are fully involved in the self-evaluation process and comment on
how involved they feel in their children's learning. Arrangements for safeguarding are
effective. The childminder displays excellent knowledge of how to keep children safe and
fully understands which procedures to follow if she has any concerns about a child in her
care. She has attended training to enable her to identify children or families at risk of
being drawn into extreme views or behaviours. The quality of her policies, risk
assessments and actions taken to minimise risks is exemplary.
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder uses her in-depth knowledge and excellent teaching skills to inspire and
motivate children to learn. She consistently uses meaningful observations and accurate
assessment to meticulously plan activities that effectively challenge and engage children.
For example, children delight in writing a postcard to post to their family after having a
discussion with the postman about his job. The indoor and outdoor environment is
enriching and the childminder offers a variety of high-quality resources and activities that
nurture children to become independent and motivated learners. The childminder is highly
skilled in extending children's language development. For example, she asks children
focused questions that support them to express their ideas, initiate choices and make
connections about their different life experiences.
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is extremely successful in extending children's personal, social and
emotional development. She is excellent at respecting and nurturing their views, giving
them praise and explaining what behaviour is expected. Children behave exceptionally well
and show high levels of self-esteem. The highly stimulating and varied resources available
reflect people from around the world and support children's understanding of diversity.
The childminder appreciates how she can extend children's learning of other cultures even
further.
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make rapid and consistent progress in their learning. They are highly enthusiastic
and show an extremely positive approach towards new experiences. Children show
impressive knowledge of what foods are good for them, the importance of regular exercise
and adopting excellent personal hygiene routines. For example, young children happily
and spontaneously sing a song about washing germs away when washing their hands
before having a snack.
