We use the word structure to mean “properties” Everything has properties, it always has We talk about “structure” because IT has taken over from business Get folks to “label” the item.
If you can identify object properties sufficiently to achieve business outcomes, it has structure
Context is critical Context is defined by the consumer / viewer We all apply properties according to our reality – we always have, we always will
More precise descriptions of content Describe from multiple PoV’s Store it once – duplication / redundancy for performance & business continuity only
Tools are better There is more to deal with Biggest change is expectations

Most content is silo’d by dept / workgroup / region etc. Integration to LOB apps does not exist on a wide scale
Most ECM implementations are point or departmental Nothing wrong with that, but don’t label it as E In reality the E refers to who owns the content (the Enterprise)
This is the relevant blog post: http://christianpwalker.wordpress.com/2011/09/27/come-together/
Managing content needs to extend across the organization (breadth) Content stored in LOB systs and all repositories needs to be managed (deep) Accommodate multiple Points of view w/out duplication
Integration between all systems is key CMIS limited to CMS’s Device & location don’t matter
Content consumers need their content when, where, and how they need it. Understand the context to proactively have content waiting
All need to be addressed All impact or are impacted by structure
