1. “I love living in Manchester, I love the club, the fans, everything about it
suits me”
Sergio Aguero has scored the mostgoals in the Premier League and for Manchester City this season. We
caughtup with him to discuss whathe thinks of his team mates ,as well as whathe plans to do with his career in
the future and Manchester City’s reputation in the Champions League.
Hi Sergio,it’s great to finally catch up with you.
Thank you for having me, it’s great to be here.
Now, you are the top scorer for Manchester City and the Premier League this season, how does thatmake you
feel?
It is absolutelygreat. There are some top players in the Premier League, such as Diego Costa, Harry Kane and
Olivier Giroud. To play in the same league as those players is greatbutto beat them to being top goal scorer is
even better. I am grateful for the support I have had from the fans.
Do you think that one day, Manchester City will be a greater force in the Champions League and progress further
than whatthey have in recent years?
Of course. We have some greatplayers in our team and together we have the potential to go further than what
we have. We’ve had some good performances in the Champions League but we have also been unfortunate. We
are playing some greatteams with world class players and obviouslyit will be difficultto beatthem at times.I
would like to be at Manchester City and one day win the Champions League with them, they are a greatteam
and they deserve to go as far as possible in the competition.
Sergio,as a bit of fun, we thoughtwe would ask you some questions aboutyour team mates.
(Laughing) This will be interesting.
Who do you think is the funniestout of your team mates?
Well, they’re all funny in their own ways. Myself and Zabaleta get on well and have our own sense ofhumour with
being from the same country, but Aleks Kolarov is funny. People would notexpect it because ofhow serious he
comes across, buthe really is a joker.
Who would you say works the hardestin training and who would you say is a bit lazier when it comes to training?
(Laughing) Well,I can be a little lazy sometimes when Iam training I will admit, but I do work hard too, everyone
needs to try their best.I would say the hardestworker in training would be James Milner.Even when it comes to
the games his work rate is outstanding.
Okay, final one. Who has the best and worsttaste in music?
I would have to say that, um,Vincent Kompanyhas a good taste in music. He has a variety of genres and music
from different countries thatgets us all pumped up for games.Ienjoy listening to his music.Joe HartI would say
listens to music thatI wouldn’tnecessarilylisten to.It’s not that I don’t necessarilyenjoy it, some ofit can be
alrightto listen to, but if I had a choice, his ipod wouldn’tbe the first I would choose (laughs).
2. What are your future career plans? Do you plan on staying at City till the end of your career,or do you have other
things in mind?
I love living in Manchester, I love the club, the fans, everything aboutit suits me.My son also enjoys coming to
Manchester and staying with me which is also important.I would like to be here as long as I can, but at some
pointI would like to return to Independiente,my boyhood club, it holds a big place in my heart. But as I’ve said,I
would like to be with City when they win the Champions League,I would like to stay till then at least. The club is
brilliant,as are their fans, they have shown greatsupportand respectto me.
There have been some rumours thatyou mightleave Manchester City to join Lionel Messi at Barcelona,or go to
Real Madrid. Do any of these appeal to you?
Both are amazing clubs.I am good friends with Leo Messi, but that would notnecessarilyconvince me to go to
Barcelona. As with Real Madrid, I have not had any approach from them and even if I did,I would respond with
how content I am at City. At the momentI am not interested in leaving the club.
Thank you for talking to us Sergio, good luck with next season.
Thank you also.
