A. CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD TEACHER

WHAT IS A GOOD TEACHER?
According to R Singh and C. Padilla, Good teachers generally have the
   following qualifications:


1. Ability to stimulate interest
2. Wealth of commentarial statements
3. Attention to pupils while reciting
4. An effective oraganization of subject matter
5. Well- developed assignments
6. Good use of illustrative materials
7. Provision of individual differences
8. An effective method of appraising the work students
9. Freedom from disciplinary difficulties
10. Knowledge of the subject matter taught
11. Knowledge of the objectives of education
12. Conversational manner in teaching
13. Frequent use of the experiences of the pupils
14. An appreciative attittude evidenced by the teacher’s nod, comments,
    and smiles
15. Skills in asking questions
16. Definite directions for study
17. Skill in measuring results of teaching
18. Willingness to experiment
B. ROLES OF TEACHERS
The six areas of activity of the teacher can be summarized as:
1. The teacher as information provider
2. The teacher as role model
3. The teacher as facilitator
4. The teacher as assessor
5. The teacher as planner
6. The teacher as resource developer

C. TEACHER–STUDENT RELATIONSHIP
1. The teacher should always act in the best interest of his students.

2. The teacher should not divulge private confidential matters and
   infromation he knows about the pupil/ student.

3. The teacher should not give a pupil/student special tutoring during his
   free period and accept pay or any kind of gift as payment for extra
   service to add to his meager salary.

4. The teacher should not insult a pupil/student in class because of his
   inability to give the correct answer.

5. The teacher should never enter the class under the influence of liquor.

6. The teacher should make the learning experiences of the pupil/student
   enjoyable, fruitful and meaningful.

7. He should be firm but gentle in matters of discipline.

8. He should never allow imself to be influenced by any consideration
   other than merit in the evaluation of the pupils/students work.

9. He should always maintain his dignity and self-respect when dealing
   with pupils/students and should refrain from receiving favors directly or
   indirectly from any of his pupils/students or their parents.
D. TEACHING STYLES
1. Visual teaching style
          - the teacher presents the lesson through
pictures, sketches, diagrams, graphs or other related illustrations.
2. Auditory teaching style
         - the teacher lectures and gives oral explanations most of the
time.
3. Tactile teaching style
         - the teacher adopts “hands on activities”.
4. Kinesthetic teaching style
          - the teacher engages the students in physical movement sas they
learn the subject.
5. Group teaching style
         - the teacher adopts a group interaction and group discussion
techniques in the teaching lessons.
6. Individual teaching style
          -the teacher requires individual recitations, individual
projects, assignments, etc.

  • 3. WHAT IS A GOOD TEACHER? According to R Singh and C. Padilla, Good teachers generally have the following qualifications: 1. Ability to stimulate interest 2. Wealth of commentarial statements 3. Attention to pupils while reciting 4. An effective oraganization of subject matter 5. Well- developed assignments 6. Good use of illustrative materials 7. Provision of individual differences

  • 8. C. TEACHER–STUDENT RELATIONSHIP 1. The teacher should always act in the best interest of his students. 2. The teacher should not divulge private confidential matters and infromation he knows about the pupil/ student. 3. The teacher should not give a pupil/student special tutoring during his free period and accept pay or any kind of gift as payment for extra service to add to his meager salary. 4. The teacher should not insult a pupil/student in class because of his inability to give the correct answer. 5. The teacher should never enter the class under the influence of liquor.
  • 9. ..CONT 6. The teacher should make the learning experiences of the pupil/student enjoyable, fruitful and meaningful. 7. He should be firm but gentle in matters of discipline. 8. He should never allow imself to be influenced by any consideration other than merit in the evaluation of the pupils/students work. 9. He should always maintain his dignity and self-respect when dealing with pupils/students and should refrain from receiving favors directly or indirectly from any of his pupils/students or their parents.
  • 10. D. TEACHING STYLES 1. Visual teaching style - the teacher presents the lesson through pictures, sketches, diagrams, graphs or other related illustrations.
  • 11. 2. Auditory teaching style - the teacher lectures and gives oral explanations most of the time.
  • 12. 3. Tactile teaching style - the teacher adopts “hands on activities”.
  • 13. 4. Kinesthetic teaching style - the teacher engages the students in physical movement sas they learn the subject.
  • 14. 5. Group teaching style - the teacher adopts a group interaction and group discussion techniques in the teaching lessons.
  • 15. 6. Individual teaching style -the teacher requires individual recitations, individual projects, assignments, etc.
