Why use RTL?
Who is it for?
What (really) is RTL?
When do you use it?
Where do you use RTL?
How (Just The Details of RTL)
Why Use RTL?
“The learning process requires not only hearing, seeing and association; it requires the
ability to properly retrieve from the deep recesses of your mind at another time.”
                                      John Connor
“It is important to emphasize that it is impossible for our brains to multitask”
“Repetition is essential for learning to occur.”
                                      John Medina

Revelation Theory of Learning (RTL) provides the framework to optimize attention of
your learners. Every attribute of the theory optimizes attention and facilitates learning
for long-term recall.
Let me explain more significantly…
Who is RTL Meant For?
NOTE: It is recognized as a Universal Design for Learning
(UDL) Method; therefore,
(1) It can be used by any technology-savvy instructor or
(for that matter) anyone who wants to optimize
instructional transfer (i.e. long term memory storage)
and at the same time maximize attention of learners.
(2) It can be used on any type of learner (i.e. from
Kindergarten to graduate level learners; students with
disabilities, students whose first language may not be the
   official language of their residency).
What is Revelation Theory of Learning (RTL)?

(1) RTL is simply a teaching and learning method.
(2) RTL is a multisensory method that integrates
technology and the psychology of learning.
(3) Remember, RTL is recognized as an Universal
Design for Learning (UDL) method. Quite simply, it
can be used for all ages and types of learners.
What is RTL?

RTL is a multisensory instructional method that
simply integrates technology with the
psychology of learning to optimize learning and
attention. It is a brain-based approach to
learning.
Where can you use RTL?
RTL can be used in any lecture hall, classroom or
conference room that has some technology
integration. Precisely…
(1) A CPU (ideally with Internet connectivity).
(2) For whole-class instruction, either a projection
screen, SMART Table, SMART Board or T.V.
    Monitor.
When can you use RTL?
Quite simply, I would ask when should you not use it?

(1) RTL is free to use there is no cost for using it.
(2) I believe the only time not to use it is when you are instructing in the field
or laboratory or when no technology is available. However, even without
technology you will still need to employ the psychology aspect of RTL …
(3) It is essential to create that Ideal Learning Environment (ILE) for whole-class
or individualized instruction.

However, why not learn the details of it so you
             can indeed use it…
How: REVELATION Theory of Learning (RTL)
is so simple that even John Connor can use it…
If you “seven” or divide the word REVELATION into 7 parts the
word REVELATION will reveal the 7 attributes of the theory…
R stands for the attribute repetition (optimized).
EV stands for effective visuals and/or videos.
EL stands for effective language (of delivery).
A stands for association (associative learning).
TI stands for technology (that is) interactive (and rapidly delivered)
O stands for observation of learners (that is frequent)
N stands for nonbiased presentation employing the
       Modern Socratic Method of Instruction.
“Repetition is essential for learning to occur.”
R John Medina
“Vision is our primary sense.”

            EV Jacques Yves Cousteau

If I asked you these questions;
(1) What is a dog’s primary sense?
(2) What is a bear’s primary sense?
(3) What is John’s primary sense? No it’s not my stomach…
Now I ask you this,
(4) How many windows are in your house or
apartment? Combien de fenêtres dans votre maison ?

Keep in mind it is not the answer that I would like to
focus on; it is the journey to the answer that I wish to
discuss…
EL Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Perhaps the best way to explain this is to place you in a contemplative
scenario (CS).
Have you ever been in a class where the instructor use a phrase or a
word that you do not understand? I have… The students like myself
would have a tendency to shut-down. A student like my better-half; that
would be Kate, (probably similar to the way you are), tries to figure out
the meaning. Yet that takes time…
Meanwhile, the instructor has moved on talking about the next
thoughts… I simply ask you this; how many students are currently
following/listening to the instructor in this scenario?
“If instructors can facilitate this connection (i.e. association)
perhaps even provide the catalyst for association with their
A learners; this will indeed yield an avalanche of learning.”
                                                     John Connor

Here I will give you an
example; When I
mention this phrase,
thunderbird; what
“comes to mind?”
http://www.k-web.org/
“Technology when properly integrated in the
classroom should be interactive, multisensory, and
      TI rapidly deployed.”
                                   John Connor

(1) “Come with me” try this, that is “if you
       want to live”.”

(2) Instruction in Associative Thinking

(3) Interactive Example: Paris, France
Constant Observation of your learners so you may discern
(without loss of momentum) what to do next to optimize
understanding and attention (more or less like an orchestra

O conductor)
Learning time is only possible and significantly dependent on
uninterrupted learners. Our brains were not designed for
multitasking; it simply switches back and forth quite rapidly; yet
the more signals coming at us the higher probability of error…
“It was not mere ignorance with which one had to contend, but
ignorance mistaking itself for knowledge or false conceit of
wisdom, a more stubborn and a more formidable foe.”
                                                  Socrates

    N
Introduce your subject by asking questions. Questions will help your
learners focus and begin to create an active mind (that is, an active
mind on your task). Normally in most cases you should not tell your
learners how to complete the task. Let their mind get involved so they
are contemplating. An active mind is amazingly brilliant…
Here is an example…
Let me ask you a question?

How did you learn how to ride a bicycle?

  • 7. Where can you use RTL? RTL can be used in any lecture hall, classroom or conference room that has some technology integration. Precisely… (1) A CPU (ideally with Internet connectivity). (2) For whole-class instruction, either a projection screen, SMART Table, SMART Board or T.V. Monitor.
  • 8. When can you use RTL? Quite simply, I would ask when should you not use it? (1) RTL is free to use there is no cost for using it. (2) I believe the only time not to use it is when you are instructing in the field or laboratory or when no technology is available. However, even without technology you will still need to employ the psychology aspect of RTL … (3) It is essential to create that Ideal Learning Environment (ILE) for whole-class or individualized instruction. However, why not learn the details of it so you can indeed use it…
  • 9. How: REVELATION Theory of Learning (RTL) is so simple that even John Connor can use it… If you “seven” or divide the word REVELATION into 7 parts the word REVELATION will reveal the 7 attributes of the theory… R stands for the attribute repetition (optimized). EV stands for effective visuals and/or videos. EL stands for effective language (of delivery). A stands for association (associative learning). TI stands for technology (that is) interactive (and rapidly delivered) O stands for observation of learners (that is frequent) N stands for nonbiased presentation employing the Modern Socratic Method of Instruction.
  • 10. “Repetition is essential for learning to occur.” R John Medina
  • 11. “Vision is our primary sense.” EV Jacques Yves Cousteau If I asked you these questions; (1) What is a dog’s primary sense? (2) What is a bear’s primary sense? (3) What is John’s primary sense? No it’s not my stomach… Now I ask you this, (4) How many windows are in your house or apartment? Combien de fenêtres dans votre maison ? Keep in mind it is not the answer that I would like to focus on; it is the journey to the answer that I wish to discuss…
  • 12. EL Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Perhaps the best way to explain this is to place you in a contemplative scenario (CS). Have you ever been in a class where the instructor use a phrase or a word that you do not understand? I have… The students like myself would have a tendency to shut-down. A student like my better-half; that would be Kate, (probably similar to the way you are), tries to figure out the meaning. Yet that takes time… Meanwhile, the instructor has moved on talking about the next thoughts… I simply ask you this; how many students are currently following/listening to the instructor in this scenario?
  • 13. “If instructors can facilitate this connection (i.e. association) perhaps even provide the catalyst for association with their A learners; this will indeed yield an avalanche of learning.” John Connor Here I will give you an example; When I mention this phrase, thunderbird; what “comes to mind?” http://www.k-web.org/
  • 14. “Technology when properly integrated in the classroom should be interactive, multisensory, and TI rapidly deployed.” John Connor (1) “Come with me” try this, that is “if you want to live”.” (2) Instruction in Associative Thinking (3) Interactive Example: Paris, France
  • 15. Constant Observation of your learners so you may discern (without loss of momentum) what to do next to optimize understanding and attention (more or less like an orchestra O conductor) Learning time is only possible and significantly dependent on uninterrupted learners. Our brains were not designed for multitasking; it simply switches back and forth quite rapidly; yet the more signals coming at us the higher probability of error…
  • 16. “It was not mere ignorance with which one had to contend, but ignorance mistaking itself for knowledge or false conceit of wisdom, a more stubborn and a more formidable foe.” Socrates N Introduce your subject by asking questions. Questions will help your learners focus and begin to create an active mind (that is, an active mind on your task). Normally in most cases you should not tell your learners how to complete the task. Let their mind get involved so they are contemplating. An active mind is amazingly brilliant… Here is an example… Let me ask you a question? How did you learn how to ride a bicycle?
