› The lead researchers undertaking HPV.edu are from the
University of Sydney. Other researchers include experts from
the Telethon Institute in WA, the Women’s and Children’s
Hospital in SA, and the Kirby Institute in NSW.
› HPV.edu is a randomised controlled trial of a complex
intervention (incorporating an adolescent education
intervention, a parental decision aid, and procedural
facilitators) to improve the school-based human
papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program for adolescents.
› HPV.edu is funded by the National Health and Medical Research
Council (NHMRC).

3. What are the primary aims of HPV.edu?
› The primary aim of the trial is to increase the uptake of HPV
vaccination.
› Secondary aims are to:
(a) improve vaccination-related psychosocial outcomes,
including knowledge and attitudes, decision-making
involvement, self-efficacy, and fear and anxiety, and
(b) improve program logistical outcomes, including reduction
in time spent vaccinating adolescents and increased number
of consent forms returned (regardless of
decision).
