information, a
source you can
trust for the latest
word. If you
have
suggestions about what you would like to see on the
page, let the office know. Right now the site is pretty
text heavy and we would like to make it more image
rich, but we need good pictures of the ministry of
Joy to do that. So keep your phones and cameras
handy and look in your archives and send pictures
our way. If you haven't been to our facebook page
lately or ever, please visit and "like" us. If you are
traveling on the weekend, you can now catch up by
viewing our YouTube channel.
We also would like to get an updated photo directory,
but instead of hiring an outside company to do that we
would like to self-publish a piece. But in order for us to
do that we need everyone to submit updated photos.
So if you took a family photo for your Christmas card
this year, please send a copy to the office so we can
compile them.
For many of us in the congregation, electronic
communication is becoming more common than print
and mail. So we will be experimenting this next month
with an electronic newsletter (a beefed up "Sharing Our
Joy") so you always will have current information. For
those of you who don't have or use computers or
phones to get your information, we will still have a
printed version available to pick up at church or it can
be mailed to you by request.
2016 is upon us and we are busy with plans for the new
year. Our annual meeting will be coming up Feb. 14
and as part of the process we will be electing people to
leadership positions. I invite you to start thinking about

All Women are Invited to the January
Bible Study
Christian Citizenship 101 - Paul's Letter to the
Philippians
In January, we will begin a four part study on the Book
of Philippians. In this study we'll discover more about
the church in Philippi and its founding, the challenges it
faced and the context of some of its most beloved
passages. We'll also explore ways in which Philippians
relates to our lives today and invites us to engage in
fuller service to the world around us. The title of this
study, Christian Citizenship, comes from two verses in
Philippians - Philippians 1:27 and Philippians 3:20. A
major emphasis of this letter is what it means to
conduct our lives as citizens of the commonwealth of
Jesus Christ, where the gospel reigns. Theme verses
for January's study are Philippians 1:1-26. The study
can be found in the Gather magazine.
This four-part study is written by Phyllis Kersten, an
associate pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in River
Forest, Illinois from 1996-2008. Since that time, she has
served several interim ministry appointments and has
co-authored two Bible studies for women.
Each month, all women are welcome to join us for Bible
study on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, in the Fireside
Room at the church, at either of the following times:
