Your child has been recommended for our new Saturday ELL School (SELLS)
beginning on 3/3/12. The participating students will be from our 10th
and 11th
grades,
who are English Learners (ELL), having shown good attendance, and behavior, and the
desire to learn. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to learn Test Taking
Skills, practice tests and get more instruction and support in the areas of Mathematics
and Reading. We have two experienced educators, and who will provide instruction in a
curriculum specially created for the program. DCCAS (District of Columbia
Comprehensive Assessment System), SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and TOEFL (Test
of English as a Foreign Language) are our target tests. Assistant Principal____ of
Bilingual Counselor Ms. Caroline Young, will serve as the Program Coordinator.
Breakfast 8:30AM - 9 AM
Period 1: 9 AM- 10:30 AM
Period 2: 10: 30 AM – 12 PM
Lunch: 12 PM -12:30 PM
Leave the building by 12:45 PM

The SELLS program will run for 8 weeks, at Roosevelt senior High School, every
Saturday except during Spring Break. Please confirm your acceptance of this
opportunity by signing the section below. There are three expectations of the students,
(1) Punctuality and good attendance (2) Respectful behavior towards students and staff
(3) Completion of class work and Homework. Of you the parent/guardian, the
expectations are (1) you will support your child by making this a priority for their
Saturday morning for the next 8 weeks. (2) Make sure that your child attends SEELS on
time and stays for the entire class time. (3)You will meet with Bilingual Counselor, Ms.
Young at least 1 time to discuss your child’s academic progress
