Información obtenida por el auditor para llegar a las conclusiones sobre las que se basa la opinión de auditoría. La naturaleza, oportunidad y amplitud de los procedimientos de auditoría varían de acuerdo con los riesgos que percibe el auditor. Así pues, cuando siente que el riesgo es alto, recurrirá a procedimientos más confiables o ampliará el tamaño de la muestra. Riesgo de auditoría.- Es el riesgo de que el auditor emita una opinión no apropiada o pertinente cuando los estados financieros tomados en conjunto sean presentados en forma errónea en una manera importante. El riesgo de auditoría tiene tres componentes: Inherente, de Control y de Detección. Carlos Escobar P, Mgs Los procedimientos para evaluar la efectividad y comprender del sistema de control interno y el de contabilidad de la empresa del cliente se organizada generalmente alrededor de los ciclos transaccionales: ingresos, egresos, activos fijos, inventarios, impuestos, nómina, entre otros. Generalmente el programa de auditoría se divide en dos secciones: procedimientos para evaluar la efectividad del control interno del cliente y la segunda las pruebas sustantivas de la cifras que aparecen en los estados financieros. Las pruebas sustantivas que buscan sustentar las cifras en los estados financieros está organizada generalmente en término de cuentas del balance general. Generalmente los activos están sujetos a verificación directa (examen físico), inspección de documentos, y confirmación de terceros. Los pasivos generalmente, pueden verificarse con el examen de documentos, confirmación e inspección de información. Los ingresos y los gastos no son tangible, existen como registro contables y representan cambios en el patrimonio de los propietarios. La mejor evidencia de la existencia de los ingresos o gastos es el cambio verificable en las cuentas relacionadas del activo o pasivo. Carlos Escobar P, Mgs Los controles ineficaces sobre las ventas a crédito y las cuentas y los documentos por cobrar pueden ser costosos y producir pérdidas significativas para cualquier empresa. Por ejemplo, puede enviarse mercaderías a clientes cuyo crédito vigente no haya sido cancelado. Puede haberse hecho despacho a los clientes sin haber avisado al departamento de facturación. Las facturas pueden tener errores en precios y cantidades.
