Promotional
Magazine
For this project we had to design a promotional magazine
for a brand of our choice. The objective was to determine
the brand archetype and create a promotional magazine
that enhances the corporate identity.

This project taught me a lot about art directing and working
with models during a photo shoot. Photographs used in this
project was a collaborative effort, with some of my own and
the photographer during the shoot. Post editing was done
by me.

6. Awareness
Campaign
The objectives for this project were to create awareness
among young people to realise that breast and testicular
cancer is a reality in their lifestyle. Vredefoundation is a
cause who is determined to fight cancer, with an edge.

- Five posters
During this project we had to do market research to deter-
mine the mindset of young people concerning their chances
to get cancer. We decided to reveal the every-day hero.
By checking yourself, you are saving a life which therefore
makes those who check themselves superheros.
7. Marketing campaign
Social media management is a strategic process that can be used
to enhance a corporate identity. The objectives of this project
were to create a blogspot, Facebook page and Twitter account.
These different social media platforms had to support one anoth-
er in terms of design and content.

- Poster
We had to create a marketing campaign with objectives, strate-
gies and supporting visual elements. These different platforms
had to be managed throughout the year.
8. Annual Report
The annual report had a corporate angle. The objective was
to choose a company from the JSE and create an annual
report that supports their corporate identity.

I enjoyed working with Consol Glass PTY because it allowed
me to think minimalistic. The idea with the UV-matte spots
was to create a sandblasting texture, easily associated with
glass.

12. Stop Motion
This project proved to be the most fun I had this year. We had to
create an advertisement for Astro’s using stop motion in Adobe
Flash.
Requirements:
- 700 still photos
- Length 30 seconds
- Sound effects
I enjoyed working with the Darth Vader action figure. The idea of
the disco ball (consisting of astro’s) surprising him is that although
you might be the villain, Astro’s will bring the fun to anyone.
13. Web design

We had to generate relevant information to post on the
different social platforms. This also meant that we
needed to know what type of posts to make on the
different platforms, because of the specific demands on
each of them.
15. Flash web
The annual report had a corporate angle. The objective was
to choose a company from the JSE and create an annual
report that supports their corporate identity. The following
project was to create a flash website with the same visual
elements.
Requirements:
- Working navigation
- Five web pages
I enjoyed working with Consol Glass PTY because it allowed
me to think minimalistic. Designing a working website in
Adobe Flash was challenging at first, but proved to be
rewarding when I finished it.
16. Web design
The objective for this website was to inform visitors about the
basics of typography.
I enjoyed working on this website. The parallax scrolling effect
is a hot trend at the moment and there is a few awesome web-
sites supporting this effect. By designing the website like this,
it is visually entertaining and the visitor almost feels in control
of what is happening on the screen.
The biggest challenge was to figure out the coding and
especially div styles in Adobe Dreamweaver. With this project I
obtained a better understanding of HTML and CSS.
I particularly enjoyed working with Adobe Illustrator to design
the 3D effects of the typography.
