4. Background
Candice “Ms. Drama” Williams is often described as a southern girl in a "New York state of
mind". She began her media career at Spelman College where she received her first taste of
reporting in broadcast as an intern at a local news station (WSB-TV/ABC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Immediately after completing Spelman, Candice continued her pursuits in journalism in the
graduate program at New York University. While there, she honed her skills as a reporter
interning and working for various publications, networks and radio stations, including
Newsday (Review Crew), ABC Daytime (Youth Marketing Consultant), MTVU (The
Freshman) and Hot 97/Emmis Communications (Promotions Assistant/Board Operator).
While growing as a journalist and burgeoning media personality, “Ms. Drama's” talent and
passion for talk became recognized in the industry.
It was during her stint at Hot 97 that Candice was offered an on-air opportunity at an online
radio station in Brooklyn, NY. She served as the afternoon drive personality reporting
entertainment news and gossip as well as conducting artist interviews for a two-hour
Monday– Friday show. In addition to her comical news segments, Candice started to gain
notoriety for her edgy interviews and subsequently started to be called "Drama Queen" by
independent and established artists. The name soon evolved into Ms. Drama a year later.
For the past seven years, Candice Williams has been making her mark in the industry as an
event host and media personality. He resume includes co-hosting an international hip-hop
show on Sirius Satellite radio with DJ Bijal (2009) conducting interviews with artists on her
Public Access TV show, Ms. Drama TV (2008-2009), putting artists in the “hot seat” on her
weekly online radio shows on Break Thru Radio (2008 – 2014), and blogging on her
entertainment news and gossip website msdramatv.com.
In 2013, Candice was casted as the lead media personality, Ms. Drama, on the VH1 network
series, ‘The Gossip Game’. Similar to her day-to-day as a journalist and interviewer, the
show offered a glimpse into the world of a vivacious and talented media personality and
celebrity interviewer.
Today, Candice can be seen producing and hosting a daily entertainment and business news
show on the BEN Network, in addition to event hosting and reporting for various news outlets
and sites.
