INTRO
Product managers are compelled to be heads-down and focused on results in order to manage their products
while running offensively through the often-complex relationships with Engineering, Marketing, and other
functional groups within the business structure. The work of product management itself consumes them, leaving
little time or energy to strategize about vital organizational concerns such as product management career paths
and reporting structures at big companies or getting product management in early enough at start-ups, or the soft
skills required for diplomatically handling the people issues let alone consistently tapping into their passion for the
work of product management. How can product managers think organizationally, demonstrate value to their
executives, and get a seat at the table when it counts?

Each week, The Global Product Management Talk features an expert guest speaker who asks questions of
the participants on Twitter in a Socratic discussion. The speaker and co-hosts broadcast their comments
over BlogTalkRadio. The transcript of Tweets and podcast are available after the live event.

ABOUT RICH MIRONOV
Rich Mironov is a seasoned software executive and serial entrepreneur. He’s held the position of the "product
guy" at six tech startups including as CEO and VP Marketing/Products. Rich founded the first Product Camp,
now a world-wide movement of semi-unstructured get-togethers that provide product managers opportunity to
network, teach, learn and share. Product Bytes is his long-running series on software, start-ups, product
strategies, Silicon Valley, and the inner life of product managers. Rich’s book, “The Art of Product Management”
captures the best of Product Bytes and represents the scrappy entrepreneur in all of us. Rich guest lectures at
business schools and executive education programs around the world, has served on the board of the Silicon
Valley Product Management Association and chaired the first product manager/ product owner tracks at Agile
Alliance’s annual conference. Rich has a BS Physics from Yale and an MBA from Stanford. He is an in-demand
