Professor Zalidis, Scientific Coordinator of Carbonica EU, presented Carbon farming: best practices and challenges, at the international session organized by the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee, Re Soil Foundation, and JRC at Rimini Exhibition Center. Carbon farming, or regenerative agriculture, indeed represents an innovative and sustainable approach to both agricultural production and climate change mitigation. It focuses on enhancing carbon sequestration in the soil, promoting biodiversity, and fostering overall ecosystem health. Professor Zalidis has likely emphasized key best practices and challenges associated with this innovative approach. He presented reliable monitoring and reporting methods that i-Bec has developed, ensuring the transparency and credibility of carbon sequestration efforts within carbon farming initiatives. The implementation of reliable MRV methods addresses concerns related to the accurate measurement and reporting of carbon sequestration, thereby building trust among stakeholders. Finally, Professor Zalidis pointed out that by addressing these best practices and challenges, the quadruple helix of academia, industry, government, and civil society can work together to promote and advance carbon farming as a viable solution for mitigating climate change.
