4. Bonner Congress Track
REPRESENT
✴The Bonner Student Congress is the heart
and soul for student leadership in the
Bonner Community, connecting Bonners and
their programs with energy, information,
and opportunities across the country.
BUILD
✴The Student Congress Representatives congregate
at the Bonner Congress annual meeting to develop
their Big Ideas.
LEAD
✴This years’ track will include training opportunities
by staff from the Roosevelt Campus Network in
grassroots organizing to articulate advocacy and
public policy solutions to challenges our communities
face.
5. Congress Big Idea...
The “Big Idea” proposal process prompts
student representatives to come to the
meeting with a range of ideas for
improving and enhancing the Bonner
Program and service more broadly in
their campus communities.
Participants engaged in project planning
inspired by lessons learned from
visionaries, student movements and
social entrepreneurs past and present.
Last year Reps were charged to develop
ideas around the following four
categories;
‣ Student Development & Leadership
‣ Community Partnerships and Impact
‣ Campus Culture and Coordination
‣ Policy & Change Campaigns
6. Bonner Interns
Bonner Senior Interns—who work closely with
Coordinators as leaders of the Bonner Program at
their school—often are the wheels that keep their
Bonner Program rolling. These dedicated
students are committed to strengthening their
program and the experience of every student in
it.
Bonner Interns are delegated the task to assist
with the following;
‣ Plan, facilitate, and supervise Bonner meetings,
retreats, and trainings.
‣ Help plan and manage Bonner events, such as
campus-wide or Bonner service events, First Year
Trip, Second Year Exchange, and more
‣ Senior Interns can be a key resource in helping
integrate the Student Development Model
throughout the Bonner Program.
7. Bonner Interns
TRAINING
This year Bonner Interns will engage in a
series of trainings that will include the
change to prepare for new roles in program
management, as well as time to think about
life after Bonner.
A team of staff and interns from across the
network helps plan this track. This year’s
topics may include:
•Program management and leading your
peers
•Understanding and leveraging your
leadership style
•How to plan and lead trainings
•How to plan Career Fairs and service
events with alumni and non-profits.
•Career and professional development
workshops, including how to build social
change careers (with Echoing Green)
