2. The goal of my design family is to
inform parents of the changes
taking place in Oregon education
The message I am trying to get across is
High-Stakes testing is
that
bad for education!
3. Message:
When readers are finished reading my designs, I want
them to know that
high-stakes standardized tests are unfair, and have
adverse effects on students.
Feel Statements
Design 1: I want parents to feel interested in learning
more about high-stakes testing
Design 2: I want parents to feel scared for their child’s
education
Design 3: I want parents to feel empowered
4. Proximity: I grouped the items together in two related elements
Alignment: I aligned the words by offsetting all of them in a way that
makes the eye travel from top left to bottom right.
Repetition: The repetition I used is simply in the color.
Contrast: The contrast is in the text style, size, and color.
Color: I used the achromatic + 1 color scheme to draw attention to
the pieces I want emphasized.
Type: I used two different sizes and weights to emphasize “Bad”
and “High-Stakes Testing”
Overall I am going for a simple design that
emphasizes high-stakes testing as a bad for
Oregon education.
6. Proximity: I grouped the items together in three related elements
Alignment: I left aligned all of the text to create a feeling of unity even
though there is also a directional contrast
Repetition: The repetition I used is the color and weight of the font to
emphasize the most key words .
Contrast: The contrast is in the text style, size, and color.
Color: I used a red-orange and aqua complimentary color scheme
with the font while also drawing on the aqua from the Earth
Type: I used two different sizes and weights to emphasize “Bad”,
“High-Stakes Testing”, and “Stop high stakes testing in
education”
Overall I am going for a design that that really
pushes the negative aspects of high stakes testing
by emphasizing the key ideas through repetition.
8. Proximity: I grouped the items together in three related elements
Alignment: I aligned font to the left
Repetition: The repetition is in the font color
Contrast: The contrast is in the text style, size, and color.
Color: I used an analogous color scheme
Type: I used two different sizes and weights to emphasize “Bad”
and “High-Stakes Testing”, and “stop”
Overall I am going for a brochure design that is
informative and semi-business like.
