On Wednesday 19 November 2013, Blake Lapthorn's Climate Change team hosted a green breakfast seminar titled 'Influencing change in the UK leisure marine sector', with guest speakers Jane Swan and Dan Reading of The Green Blue.

12. Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
I am intrigued by your claim about the relative
bacterial content of shore and boat flushes.
Please could you send me a link to the science?
Dear Sirs,
I challenge the figures quoted that one flush
from a boat contains 250,000 times the bacteria
than a home flush. This has to be grossly
overstated. Itās exactly the same stuff after all!
Editor,
How on earth can this be true. Sensationalising
on environmental matters helps no one: it
spreads misinformation. The only way we can
make progress is by good education and
understanding, which then builds advocates
and a groundswell for change.

Editor's Notes
To raise awareness amongst industry and users about The Green Blue, its messages and work.
To minimise incidences of harmful discharges to the environment from the sector: oil, fuel, litter, antifoul, INNS, wash down, pump out, on board cleaning, exhaust emissions.
To help reduce the levels of environmental disturbance generated by the sector: noise, anchoring/eco-mooring, wash/speed/wildlife.
To enable and encourage boaters and the industry to make sustainable choices: waste management/recycling, water efficiency, energy efficiency, fuel efficiency.
