1. For beginners initially everybody face a lot of challenges installing Oralce SOA and spend hours
configuring it. Big thanks to Oracle team they made it easy all you need to install is Oracle VM virtual box
to import the ready to use image. You can just download the files and import into your virtual machine
and start using it.It’s hassle free and easy to use.
Oracle VM Templates for Oracle SOA/BPM are pre-built, configured, tested and ready-to-run software
images designed specifically for deployment on Oracle VM. So you can easily consolidate multiple
applications onto a centrally managed system.
In following slides you will find easy way to configure Oracle SOA suite no installation required .
Prerequisites :
Oracle VM Virtual Box
System Memory 8GB(Incase of AIA it would be require more memory)
I have been waiting for the new VirtualBox Image from a long time, and finally it’s released in 2012 the newer 11.1.1.7
version also will be released soon. The appliance has improved in many ways since last release, so it has been worth
waiting for. Both the appliance itself and the documentation is excellent. It is evident that Oracle has listened to
feedback on the previous release, and I think the developer VMs are useful to get hand-on experience and do your
own R&D stuff. Especially the adoption of new patchsets and versions (ex when 12c will be available) will gain a lot
from quick getting hands-on experiences. This VirtualBox appliance is a multipurpose image which can be used in
different domain configurations. The image has a number of pre-configured domains that you can use depending on
your need. The image can be set up so that it requires use of as few resources as possible, you can for instance
easily disable B2B if you do not need it, or you can shut down the desktop console and save 600MB also after going
through this document you can install Oracle AIA in the Linux box and make image of it and it’s ready to use. It is
important to say that this image is not for production purposes
All you need is to install Oracle VM VirtualBox on your desktop/laptop and import the SOA/BPM appliance and you
are ready to try out SOA Suite and BPM Suite -- no installation and configuration required!

Once imported into VirtualBox, the VM consists of 2 files, approximately 15GB each. You will require
30GB of disk space in total. In addition, the image is setup to grow based on extensions (AIA / OER /
OSR...)
The VM image only supports one running domain per instance. During initial setup, while importing the
image to VM, you will be prompted for domain setup. This is where the domain configuration is done. If
more domains are needed, you need to re-import the VM to virtual box (with a different name).
Available domains are: dev_bpm, dev_bpm_spaces, wc_spaces, dev_soa, dev_soa_osb (I chose this
one)

6. CREDENTIALS
Administrative Login - weblogic/welcome1
BPM Workspace - weblogic/welcome1
Oracle XE Database - All passwords are set to welcome1
OS Login - oracle/oracle, root/oracle
Setting up the VM:
Combine the files and extract OVM image. Use the commands provided above to combine the files into
one image. Then use extract the OVM image using winrar or other software.
Import the OVM image into VirtualBox. In VirtualBox, goto File > Import Appliance and choose the OVM
file extracted in the previous step.
Configure the VM settings - Tune the VM to work with your hardware. All the details are mentioned in the
doc provided by oracle .
