Event Description:
Come taste and listen to Chef Bill Klar
Whole-food nutrition is based on natural, seasonally grown foods such as beans, grains, most vegetables, and greens. It has a close relationship with nature as it teaches us how to select foods that respond to the body’s natural rhythm thus restoring health and bringing about deep physical and emotional healing.
The practice of whole-food nutrition follows an ancient tradition that divides life into five seasons: summer, late summer, autumn, winter, and spring. Each season has many aspects; among them is a symbolic color, a representative element such as wood, earth or metal, specific tastes and foods that are recommended for that season, the organs that are best supported by those foods, and appropriate cooking methods for that time of year. By following this tradition, we not only become tuned into our own bodies but also sensitized to the healing properties of nature.
In the five week hands-on learning course you will learn:
- the fundamental components of a healthy diet and nutrition
-which foods bring harmony to your body and which foods wreak havoc.
You will go home with plenty of tools that will empower you, including recipes and handouts in each class that will further enhance your learning at home.
Class Dates: Tuesdays June 6 13 20 27 and July 10
Must pre-register by May 25
Testimonials:
"I invited Bill to my home because of his love of healthy foods and his exquisite added touch as a French chef. Others in my group had no idea what macrobiotic eating was and yet they are also taken by the flavor as well as the simplicity and healthiness in both the menu and the ingredients. This is a gift we gave ourselves and I look forward to each week to see what we will both learn and experience in the next class. Learning to eat healthy again, and this time with such delight in understanding the condiments, the spices, and the herbs that bring out the best in each recipe is such a joy. Bill adds his unique gift to an exciting and clean way of life." - Dorothy A. Martin Neville, PhD, LLC
"When Bill initially presented the organic foods for preparation, most were not in my personal list of vegetables for digestion. Imagine my surprise and delight when the food was cooked and presented in the most mouth-watering manner and were absolutely delicious. I completely loved the fare despite my previous aversions to most vegetables. Bill is a superb cook with a flare for knowing what spices will infuse the food to their maximum flavors and he's educated me on how to love healthy foods. I now prepare my dinners as Bill has taught, organic, healthy, balanced and scrumptious." - Denise Landry
