Canteen recording
1. Canteen Recording
The brick wall around the area we
recorded is solid which enables sound to
reflect back and appear louder. Also the
metal table would enable the sound to
reflect of it so it bounces back.
The wooden chair would
absorb all the sound that will
be given off for the
recording. In having there
being multiple wooden
chairs, this would affect the
sound.
The canteen is one of the places which we recorded a quote from a film, the acoustics of this room have hard
surfaces which sound can reflect off. However, it also had surfaces which sound can be absorbed in. Even
though there are objects such as metal tables and brick walls which can reflect sound, it gets defined as there
are objects such as wooden chairs and people which absorb the sound. Even though there was not a lot of
people around while we where recording the sound would still have been absorbed. Expecting it to sound
louder as the hard solid objects are surrounding, the sound would not have been as loud. The size of the area
of the canteen we w as in was not fairly big, however it had a huge exposure as it was a small part of the
canteen.
Listening back to the recording that we did, it sounded clear and fairly loud. Even thought we was in a fairly
large space, there was still some noise of people talking and stuff moving around such as chairs and tables
which I thought would of made a difference to the sound but knowing there was objects in the surrounding
that would of reflected the sound back .
