2. The Editor for RockSound magazine is Ben Patashnik.
Rock Sound is a British magazine which champions
rock music. The magazine aims at being more
"underground" and less commercial, while also giving
coverage to more well-known acts. It generally
focuses on the pop, punk, pop-punk, emo, hardcore,
post-hardcore, heavy metal and extreme metal
genres of rock music.
Whose the editor for RockSound?
3. The company who publishes it is ‘Freeway Press Inc.’
The British edition of Rock Sound was launched in
March 1999 by the French publisher Editions Freeway.
The first issue was published in April 1999.
It’s now released monthly.
Which company publishes it?
4. I believe that the target audience is anyone who is
passionate about any kind of rock music such as punk,
metal etc. and likes to know a lot of information
about the people that create the music they love in
quite a bit of detail.
They reach their target audience by having a bright
front cover with lots of information about what’s
inside on the front.
Who is the target audience?
5. They normally use pictures of popular artists or bands
that have events or tours (or a big interview) inside
and then have parts of their distinctive logo not
showing but people can still work out the name of
the magazine.
Like these:
Do they use a certain type of
models/images?
6. They usually cover the life of popular bands and
artists at the time and their lives on the road, making
albums, releasing singles etc. all through interviews.
They give detailed reviews on lots of albums and new
artists and how well they think they’re going to do in
the industry.
RockSound is like Kerrang, it’s just a lot more detailed
so might appeal to a older audience.
What issues/stories do they usually
cover?
7. They always have their distinctive logo on the front
either in front or behind the model (band or artist)’s
head because you can easily work out what the title is
by the simple font they use and the circle around the
‘R’ for RockSound. Like the examples in previous
slides.
Do they use certain fonts and colour
schemes on their front covers?
