Primary Sources Primary Source- Any document, picture, recording, or other artifact that was produced or used by the people who were actually involved in an event Ex: a letter from a soldier, a diary, an engraving made by Africans on the Middle Passage, political cartoons, your grandpa's Purple Heart
4. Why Primary Sources? Studying history by using primary sources allows you to see the evidence for yourself. You get to draw your own conclusions instead of being told what to think or believe.
