IT recruiters and IT job seekers will share information in a face-to-face setting.
Cloud computing has proven a boon to businesses—especially small businesses, for which it hits a particularly sweet spot. With cloud services, small businesses reap the benefits of not having to deploy physical infrastructure like file and e-mail servers, storage systems or shrink-wrapped software. Plus, the "anywhere, anytime" availability of these solutions, means hassle-free collaboration among business partners and employees using the ubiquitous browser. Cloud services also provide entrepreneurs, SOHOs, and mom-and-pop outfits access to sophisticated technology without the need of an IT consultant or tech worker on the payroll However, before making the move, small businesses need to be sure that they have a clear picture of all that the cloud entails, and then determine whether it is the right solution for them.
Our guest speaker, Ricardo Wilkins (@ricardo303) is a seasoned software developer and technology consultant, and in the past has done application development for motion control and embedded devices, as well as web development and data-driven applications for local and international companies. He has participated as a liaison for Ohio state agency SharePoint users, and has given talks and technical demonstrations at local user groups, non-profit agencies and national conferences and webinars. Ricardo is well-known to BDPA audiences - http://betf.blogspot.com/2011/05/take-five-ricardo-wilkens-columbus.html - for his volunteer work with award-winning youth in Columbus OH. We look forward to engaging with all Cincinnati Blacks In Technology attendees about the impact that cloud services can have in the greater Cincinnati area for technology professionals and small business owners.
