Facebook is a well known social
networking service and website launched
in February 2004, which is operated and
privately owned by Facebook Inc.
4. Facebook’s History
• The website was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin,
Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes in 2004.
• All founders were students at Harvard University.
• Membership was originally restricted to students of
Harvard College, and within the first month, more than half the
undergraduate population at Harvard was registered on the
service.
• Facebook founders promoted the website. It became highly
used by universities in the United states and gradually most
universities in Canada.

investment for entrepreneurs, Facebook became
incorporated in mid 2004.
• In 2007, Microsoft announced that it had purchased a 1.6%
share of Facebook for $240 million, giving Facebook a total
implied value of around $15 billion.
• The latest news about Facebook state that In April 2012
Facebook bought the application Instagram for US$1
billion.

• Everyone is capable of using Facebook since it is very
easy to use. People from different ages are able to log
in and socialize.
• There has been a survey conducted to collect
information regarding who uses Facebook.
• Almost 100% of the responses stated that teenagers
are the most users of this social network.
