7. My 7 Key steps for
also getting your book there
8. 1. Get clear about the vision for
your book.
• Why do you want to write it?
• What type of book will it be?
• What market are you aiming at?
9. 2. Most important – start writing!!!!
There is no such thing as writer’s
block
Just start writing and write for a set
time everyday
10. 3. Hire an Editor
No matter how good a writer you
are, your book will benefit from
expert opinion.
Your editor could also connect you
with an agent.
11. 4. Design the Book Cover
Choose your book title carefully
Hire a designer who specialises in
book design

14. Back Cover Content
1.Decide price – use multiple currencies
2.Testimonials – send draft to key players
3. ISBN – ideally get your own
http://www.isbn.nielsenbook.co.uk
4. Your image
5. Description of book’s USPs – why should
anyone buy it?
15. 5. Register Your Book with Neilsen
Once you have the ISBN & design sorted,
then submit your book to Nielsen
http://www.nielsenbookdata.co.uk/
Your book will then show up on Amazon
16. 6. Decide on your chosen route to
publication
3 options:-
1. Find a traditional publisher
2. Print your own copies
3. Print on Demand
17. Traditional Publisher
Pros:-
- They do the sales and marketing
- Handle all editing, printing, delivery
- Perhaps upfront fee
Cons:-
- They own the copyright
- They decide the feel, look and distribution
- You make lot less £££
- May only market for few months
18. Print your own copies
Pros:-
- Print as few or as many as you wish
- You retain copyright and control of your book
- You can easily change design and content
- You decide just what you want to do with book
Cons:-
- You have to do your own marketing
- Stockholding and delivery costs
- Some Initial investment
- Printing quality moderate but getting better
19. Print on Demand (the best option)
Pros:-
- Zero stockholding and delivery costs
- Seamless and zero involvement once set up
- You still own the copyright
- You can change your book as you wish (with
minimal costs)
- You make more £££
Cons:-
- You are on your own without credibility (initially)
- You have to do your own marketing
(which is why you are on this seminar!)

worked for me
