Becominga Physical Educationteacherhasbeenmymaingoal since joiningthe BPECprogram
at DouglasCollege.Educatingstudentsonthe importance of active livingandahealthylifestyle ismy
objective whichIhope toachieve throughteaching.Buildingasense of communitywhichsharesa
similargoal or outlookonthe importance of wellness startingfromayoungage isanothermessage
whichI hope to instill onyouthculture.
I believethatthe key togettingthe mostout of the studentsisachievedthroughmotivation,
providingpositive feedback,andchallengingstudent abilities.The mostsuccessful teachersIhave hadin
the past motivatedthe studentstobecome fullyengagedbyinteractingwiththemandbuildingagood
student-teacherrelationship. Thisshowsthatthe teachertrulycares aboutwhatmessage theyare
displayingandthe dedicationtotheirschool communitybygettingtoknow eachstudent.Fromthis
base,a teacherisable to challenge his/herstudentstomove outof theircomfortzone andtry new
activities.A teachershouldalwaysencourage studentstochallenge themselvesbyprovidingknowledge
of newactivitiesorprogramsthat will promote ahealthylifestyle.Knowingeachstudentisextremely
importantwhensettingpersonalgoalsbecause everystudenthasadifferentskill level. Furthermore, I
findthatcompetitionprovidesalevel of enjoymentandsense of accomplishment thatbenefitsateam
or individualandhelpsthemgrowinconfidence.
Inclusionisanessential partof buildingacommunitythatpromoteshealthandwellnessthatis
available forall membersof the community.The firststeptoinclusionisgainingknowledgeof
disabilities,andlearninghowtotreatpeople withuniquefunctions.Educatingawhole classona

Thismeansmore than justhelpingthe studentpassthe requirementsof aspecificclass,good
instructorsgetto knowthe strengthsandweaknessesof eachstudentandhelpthemimprove inareas
theyare weakin.Emphasizingacademic,andpersonal growthbycommunicatingthesegoals,putsthe
