RE: Education Manager
I'd like to give you a brief overview of my skills and experience. I am confident that I could bring value to
American Reading Company as one of your Curriculum Developers. I am currently in my eleventh year teaching
history at the high school level. Over the past six years I have designed, developed, and written curricula for both
various levels and grades within the Social Studies Department. In addition, I constructed the scope and
sequence for my department. My Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, experience and the guidance I
have received from the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum prepared me to take the next step in my career. I
am confident that my skills will meet your needs.
Currently in my classroom, I use Pennsylvania Common Core Standards, which parallels Common Core. I implement a
curriculum that is heavily focused in reading, writing and critical analysis of primary and secondary sources. I use different
reading programs, for example Reading Apprenticeship, to aid my students in reading and understanding historical
documents. Technology, through the use of Google Classroom, enhances my lessons and is embedded throughout each
of my classes to help further engage my students of all levels. I differentiate my instruction based on the needs of my
students, which range from remedial to the Advanced Placement skill set. My eleven years in the classroom helped hone
my skills in writing and implementing standards-based curriculum.
While teaching has given me many wonderful experiences, it has also shown me the shortcomings of public education,
including the deeply rooted methodologies of old fashioned curricula. I strive and enjoy creating modern curricula that
emphasizes 21st Century skills that break away from rote memorization. I view curricula as a satisfying puzzle- a
challenge to discover how to stitch different units and opposing yet complimentary ideas together to create one cohesive
curriculum. My passion stems from the eagerness to feel like my instruction makes a difference and my desire to change
the face of education for the sole benefit of my students. I am an educator who inspires and challenges all students to be
life-long learners, but now I would like to do so through the curriculum in which I design. I believe this job will provide the
opportunity to both utilize my knowledge and energy towards curriculum and will help me grow as a leader. This is the
opportunity that I have been seeking out.
Lastly, while I am knowledgeable of current education standards, I also stay a breast of educational trends and innovative
philosophies and utilize the newest information to cater my teaching methods to my students.
My enclosed resume will give you a better understanding of my background and skills. Please feel free to call at any
time to discuss the requirements of this position.
Sincerely,
Anthony Lanfrank
